THE GOOD LSU had no turnovers Jennings kept his cool on the bench and completed some passes when he came in. THE BAD LSU caused no turnovers. Now we know why Harris hasn't been starting. 3 for 14 passing won't cut it in any league. The LSU front seven on defense is the worst of the 21st century, no matter who played. Running back by committee isn't working out. Time to find a feature back and give him the ball early and often. 17 of 20 first down plays were runs. At least 6 wide open receivers were missed. The inside running game does not work if there is no blocking. The loss of nickel back Thomas showed badly. Defensive backs gave up a lot of yardage. 8 punts. Auburn almost doubled LSU in every major statistic. Too many freshmen on offense and defense don't know how to play this here game. THE UGLY Les promised us no more clock management issues. Yet LSU failed to call a time out and get a field goal before the half. The offensive line still cannot protect a passer nor open a hole for the running backs. 0 for 13 on third-down conversions. Zero. Cheap-shot targeted hit against Quinn.
Dude got ejected and we still couldn't do shit. Here's mine. The Good: I found a white nike LSU Jersey at Marshall's for 20 bucks. The Bad: pro style offense + zone read qb's = Les Miles is mailing it in with stubbornness. The Ugly: Brandon Harris' throws, the offensive line's blocking, DJ Welter's everything, Ronald Martin's angles, Rickey Jefferson is his brother on defense. This team is terrible. They better not go 0-8 in the SEC because if they do I jump on "hell no Les must Geaux" bandwagon.
Try this version: The Good: ... we observed all the areas where we need to tighten up things. The Bad: ... those areas include almost everything. The Ugly: ... I'm not sure this coaching staff is up to the task. They've road the coat tails of good players for too long, and thus, aren't quite sure what to do now that the team needs a higher level of coaching. I would say .. "This is a rebuilding year" .... but last night went beyond "rebuilding pains".
Great job is finding two legit Good aspects of the game Red. If Miles has not learned clock management he never will. It is ridiculous to be a HC and make the money he makes and still not have any grasp on such an important factor of being a coach. The team is poorly coached across the board. I would have been fine losing had a LSU team shown up, that was not a LSU team last night.
I still think Harris is the better talent but what we saw was a terrible coaching job. I think Tirk said it best last night that our coaches, or mainly Miles, does not know how to treat young QB's. He doesn't know what he is doing and he puts them in BAD situations.
I'm not even pissed about the time out. This is just something he does and his friends continue to give him a pass. 3pts wasn't going to change anything. The later part of your post is the truth. Poorly coached across the board.
The first play should have been a quick WR screen or a roll out. Let him get the jitters out. That is common knowledge. Instead we run, run, and run on 3rd and 7. I knew we would have to put up some pts to stand a chance but I did think the D would be a lil better than last night. The runs were once again predictable. The personnel and formation tells you where the run is going. Miles does not even try to hide it.
