I mean, after the 1st three series of running up the middle for 1 yard, the rest IS on the coaches. The read option worked the two times they ran it, but we never saw it again. You cannot run it up the middle on a team like Bama. You HAVE to spread them out. Coaches failed just as they did in 2011.
A lot of this is John Chavis and Brick Haley's fault too. When you see Alabama rotate 19 players on defense and LSU can't even find 11 true starters. Something has gone terribly wrong.
Just throw the fucking ball, they dont have a great secondary. Throw the quick hits, slants crossing routes until they stop stacking the damn box. Its not a hard concept. I just dont understand the lack of this coaching staff.
That analysis showed a lot of player failures. Fournette and Harris going right while the pulling guards go left. The offensive line executing exactly two blocks the whole game. Beckwith getting blocked 10 and 15 yards downfield, missed tackles, Harris' interception, etc. Blame the coach for the team not being ready, for the play calling, and for the lack of adjustments. But players need to be held accountable for their many failures or we will see this again. Quit giving them a pass.
It's the coaches job to have them ready to play though. Lack of focus, and lack of execution derives from a lack of leadership, player and coach. Where are the leaders on this team?
No one gives them a pass. I swear to god if you were in the "in game thread" you would have seen how much shit we talked about the players. Good grief man. This team was not prepared at all. Preparation for doing your job right starts and END with the head coach.
If you cant get your team ready to play one of the best teams in the nation you are not doing your job right.
Not to mention we have had penalties all damn year. Special teams is a damned joke. Any changes get made? Nope. I am not sure what people do for a living, but when you see management or leaders not giving it 100%, performance drops across the board.
The Good --- Ok, there wasn't much, so I'm grasping at straws here.... * With 2:20 left in the first half (and having been totally out-played) we tied the game at 10. * Our D fought hard and held on to the rope as long as they could * Our Punt and Kick coverage units played better * The only thing we didn't lose was the turnover battle. 1 to 1. The Bad --- * Offensive Line - completely dominated by Bama's front 7 * Defensive Line - played better than our OLine, but still wasn't dominant * Our QB looked scared and ill-prepared * Our return units whiffed and almost got Guice kilt a couple of times * With 2:20 to play in the 1st half, and the score tied, we kicked the ball out of bounds * Down by 3 to start the 2nd half, Harris throws his first INT of the season on the first play from scrimmage.... the game was over, IMO, after Bama scored to go up 10 points. The sequence of plays at the end of the 1st half and beginning of the 2nd half took away any chance we had * With 9 minutes and some change left in the game, we scored to get within 14. Kicked off to Bama and NEVER got the ball back. * 3 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out..... * Saban's squad looked ready, prepared, coached up, hungry, and played like they had something to prove.... and our guys were all out of sorts The Ugly --- * We really got our butts kicked! * Player post-game press conferences.... smiles?? Really?? This was THE GAME!!! * Come on coach!!! What happened to the jet sweep? The option? The read option run with Harris??? Everybody on planet earth could see we couldn't run between the tackles after 2 series.... except our offensive staff * We were exposed as a pretender..... but no one saw this coming. * A 5 game losing streak to Alabama makes us a strong program, not a national contender just yet
