He was handicapped by the gameplan\playcalling, but he was also inaccurate yesterday. The entire offense had a bad game, the offensive staff had a horrible game.
But especially don't run the EXACT offense that they stop the best!!!! Got to turn the QB loose and let him play!!! Give him some shorter route options with TE's to loosen up the death grip on the middle of the field!!! How many times does it take for a coach to realize that if the PREVIOUS Heisman frontrunner CAN NOT run, something must be done with play calling, blocking scheme's etc etc!!!!
I think this infatuation with "Dual-threat" quarterbacks is the reason. Especially when what we need to operate out of the I is a drop-back quarterback. When we had one, we did well. But that is still all we seem to be recruiting.
I think we're on close to the same page. I'm trying to say that the entire team (coaches, players, and even fans) played scared. Bama was in our heads before the opening kickoff. Which resulted in being literally pushed around. the coaching staff froze like a bulleyed rabbit, and both lines bent over and said "thank you sir may I have another" what made the first 13 games of 2011 so special wasn't just talent. it was a mentality of every single person on that sideline. we KNEW we were going to dominate the games. we were going to dictate how the game played out. we were going to push you around until you caved in. we had the biggest dick and were going to slap you right in the face with it and then bang the piss outta your girlfriend and your mom right in front of you while you helplessly cried in the corner. that was LSU football. that is who we were. in January 2012 that edge was violently taken from us and we've been scared ever since. can't win playing scared. and that is on every person in that locker room. a huge part of that is the man with the white hat. he once was guy never afraid to whip out his nuts and show you he had a massive set. now? in games like this he's become the skinny white kid too embarrassed to shower at the same time as the brothers after practice. the performance of this team under the brightest lights reflects that personality. plain and simple.
Hats off they were just better than we were last night. They beat us in the trenches....badly. I knew our Dline was not the same as past lines, but our Oline, I thought was one of the best. So that was disappointing. Same old ultra conservative offense afraid to make a mistake, has made us one of the bottom offensive teams under Les every year. So really no suprise there. Still this team will have a nice winning record, and is recruiting unbelievably. I can remember many years when would have killed to have a season like this.
What makes it even more confusing is trying to get all these duel threat QBs to fit into a pro style offense instead of tailoring the offense around their talents.
if it was that simple, there would never be any upsets in the history of the game, Vegas wouldn't exist as a city and less than 100 people would ever buy a ticket for a game.
