Is it really the coach? I mean that honestly! We don't get to see how crisp the routes are due to camera angles so what we are left with is A. Are they open and B. Can they catch? I'd say 50/50 on both at the moment. Not near good enough.
Let's just say the WR coach for bama would not have his job for long if their receivers dropped the ball at that same rate.
Anyone else completely disappointed in Giles? Considering we're down 4 starters on the OL (Ingram, Brumfield, Charles, and Magee) I think that played a huge role in the offensive inconsistency. The defense was atrocious.
The offense put up 38. Fine by me. Defense was only issue other than drops. Defense needs to be simpler, go to more calls in basic package, blitz when front isn't getting pressure. Aranda will adjust this. WR who drops will get benched when they have to. When game tightened up so did LSU. Gas pedal pushed, LSU scored last 14. I am happy with upward trajectory of this team.
I don't know if I would go THAT far. However, it definitely wasn't what I expected. Again, for the second week in a row, 2 or 3 key flags shut down our offense after productive drives. We go from 2nd and a couple of yards to 2nd and 20. When that happens, it's difficult to regain what they lost. Except for one situation, every one of these "chop blocks" and "unsportsmen..." since last week have subtracted what would have been a bigger win. Either way... at least we got the 'W' again and I am good with that. I don't see us beating the likes of Bama or Georgia this year, but I have a feeling next year things may look better.
I think Giles is suffering because he isn’t lining up in a 5 and 4 wide spread. We have consistently had less receivers than people covering on just about every pass play save when the House is brought. He is also being asked to block, and to run routes against the best in college football most every week. This ain’t the Big1200 passes a game. It’s the SEC.
