Felipe looks great, but he's not facing SEC competition and may need development as well. I may be wrong, but I'm of the belief that you just can't simulate game play for a QB. I think it will require game reps throwing the ball past the line of scrimmage to develop the passing game further. I think the WRs could also use the game reps. I don't believe waiting until you need a passing game to try it is a smart plan. The next few games are a perfect opportunity to see where the passing game is and refine it while still depending on the running game. The excuse of not showing the better teams on your schedule what you have is a joke if when it comes time use it you realize you never developed that aspect of your offense. JMO
Too bad you can not stay on the topic. My posts had nothing to do with your little rants. You seem bright enough. You do not piss me off. I feel sorry for you. You have five friends on a chat board.
Well, you should be happy, then. Cameron called more pass plays this week--short, effective, safe passes that kept the defense honest. Harris made 70% of them and will hopefully get better throwing downfield, but until he does . . . I expect to see a lot more quick short passes that keep the backers and DB's from crowding the line. The offensive line is making a hole wherever they want to make a hole and it puts Fournette running full speed in the defensive backfield, where he is extremely hard to stop. Williams and Guice enjoyed it, too. 8.5 yards a run is obscene against two ranked SEC West opponents.
I am happy and like I've said the AU gameplan and play calling was much improved. I would however like to see a few more passes that aren't thrown behind the LOS. Not necessarily deep down field, just those 10-15 yard high percentage passes that we'll need against better defensive lines. We have a few opportunities to work on those next on the schedule.
Auburn game was well in hand at halftime. No reason not to change the game plan, and throw the rock. They could have used additional time to work on the passing game. It was not that hot. Miles had a jacket on and the sun had gone down.
Or...even better...Franks could come in and actually redshirt behind a competant veteran QB, having time to learn a system without pressure, like Russell and Flynn were able to do.
Sounds like a good idea in theory but these days it's all about how soon can they get to the NFL. If Frank's is as good as he is cracked up to be he will be gone after his junior year or his redshirt sophomore year. If Harris doesn't go pro Frank's would likely transfer somewhere he could start right away. That's the world we live in now.
