I am with this. Why would you keep LF7 in the garage when he is arguably the best running back in the country, it just wouldn't make sense. I think this team has a lot of talent and a lot of potential. I think the game plan was run, run and run. Yes the game was close, but win or lose that game, LSU was the better team and everybody that watched it knows it. Its no secret LSU has a LOT of work to do if they want to be good enough to compete for an SEC title starting with beating what appears to be an overrated Auburn team next week. I certainly didn't expect LSU to look mid season form Saturday night (and they didn't), and after the way we started I didn't expect the game to come down to a missed FG either (but it did). Take the good with the bad and hope for improvement. They say a team improves the most from the 1st game to the 2nd (although many could argue that with the hangover Saturday we just witnessed). This win may not be good enough for most of you, and as a fan I understand where you are coming from, but what matters most to me is what the team and coaching staff take away from it. I don't think they are satisfied either. They felt how much better they were than State and let their foot off the gas and it showed. But I think it taught some lessons along the way as well. A close game that these guys almost gave away, will add some character to this team. I wanted a blow out, because I never thought and still don't think State is very good, but I'll take what I can get.
The worst part of this deal is that they called it a no catch, then let us run another play that 7 had already gotten the yardage for a 1st down on then blew it dead in the middle of the play to go "review" That to me was hardest to choke down because they killed 2 plays with 1 whistle.
YES, I was pissed. LSU looked like it was playing its season opener, but its tough to not say their was some home cookin going on with those officials.
Pretty sure it was Williams on the run, but yes they screwed us 3 times on one play, has to be a record.
The officiating to me was very suspect Saturday night. As noted on the officiating thread, almost seemed like the fix was in. Shameful.
On the Boutte comments, he just looked really really slow getting out of his stance. On at least a couple of plays, by the time he was in position to block the defender was almost past him and he had no chance. Hopefully it's something that can be corrected with technique, but you can't coach speed.
Overall I didn't think the officiating favored moo u by a noticeable amount. The way the replay worked out though was a royal screwing.
Was Boutte having to block states best D-Lineman? Chris Jones - 6'6" 310 lbs. Boutte looked a little slow and soft but definitely had the toughest matchup of anybody on the line Saturday.
