It never was when Jimbo was running the LSU offense. We moved down the field with the pass until we got up by a couple of scores then he switched to a power running game designed to eat up clock with 8-minute drives. There is little as frustrating to an opponents offense than to be standing on the sidelines wishing they could get the ball back when they are down three scores and the clock is ticking.

I wouldn't necessarily consider that being pass happy. The imbalance comes from not getting back to what you do best to set things up. Against a&m we had decided to pass first and pass last. It never felt like our running game was making them pay, or controlling tempo. And that was true even after we stopped the bleeding and got back in the game. We get the ball inside their 10 with 2 minutes to go for the lead and we are chucking the ball. With the best run blocking line in college? In that game we didn't play to our identity. Against Georgia are offensive line was screaming to let them run the ball in the 3rd quarter. They did and that's how we got back into the game. Balance is easily lost throughout the game, even quarter to quarter. Choosing to make yourself one dimensional can have the same effect as when the other team does it to you. The determining factor for me is not stats, but whether the defense is digging in on one thing and you don't make them pay.

I'm not sure what you're remembering. If you take the first couple of possessions in that game the play calling was run, run, pass, punt. In the first quarter there were roughly twice the number of rushing attempts as there were passing attempts.

The second scoring drive was predominantly passing the ball. If you jump to the scoring drive in the third it resulted in a field goal—a drive predominant on rushing calls.

"It never felt like our running game was making them pay..."

    Because it wasn't.

The A&M staff had a good game plan called against the offense using speed to hit the gaps along the offensive line.

In the a&m game we were +5 in TO's. LSU let them get some yards, but made them pay, run clock, force turnovers, contain jf. He finished with a net of 27 yds. rushing and 3 Int's.

Not on;ly that Dad aTm got most of their yards in the first two drives. After Chief adjusted and the D got used to JM's actionsnthe gaggies were not a threat.

Yep, thats the way to play him, keep him in the place he doesn't want to be. The pocket.

I went down on the field after the game, I was ready to see them stable horses after the game, due to the smell............want to know why?

What Cam will use is a mixture of zone runs, short throws out the backfield (Use the RB's), include the TE's, with a deep vertical shots down field using WR's, if they don't account for the TE, he too may drift down field. Every play has a WR going deep, something we didn't have last year. He will move off center of this if a weakness is found on the defense. If something is working, he'll stay with it. Once you make changes, he'll go after the next weakness.

Yep. Can you tell me the best OC we have ever had at LSU?

Jimbo has to be one of the best.
