That was under the Frank Wicks / Linda Moorehouse regime. They both had a hard on for Tower of Power & some of the most obscure & uninspiring music ever. It was a lazy effort by them to just grab whatever arrangement was handy from the 60s or 70s & play it ad nauseum. It was a waste to see the best band in the country playing some of the worst selections ever.

Starting this year the band is under the direction of Roy King & Eric Melley. Under them, the band has started to include a lot more modern songs including "Stand Up & Get Crunk", "All I do is Win", "Poker Face", and others. Some of the halftime shows may still be a little old, but give these guys time & hopefully you will start to see a more modern approach to halftime.

My brother-in-law & sister were both in the band & they agree that it has gotten ridiculous this year how little the band seems be playing & how much they are piping in bad music over the scoreboards.

If the band doesn't want to play as much, don't subject the rest of us to AC/DC and Ozzy thinking it will get the crowd pumped up.

I was ashamed that the seats behind the LSU bench, in the lower bowl were mostly empty. Half of that used to be the student section...and it really still should be !!

    EXPAND THE STUDENT SECTION !!

They did. The student section used to take up the first two sections of the chairbacks in the northwest corner and then about 1/3 of the bleachers. Now the students make up over half of the North Endzone. From what I heard, they do have more seats than they used to, they just have crappier views.

Those same two sections are now reserved for players families, recruits, and LSU guests. And part of those sections that used to be for the studnets are earning $900 a seat per year in tradition fund donations. That's a lot more than we used to get from the students.

Finally, if the students want to be rewarded with more seats, they need to show up & support the team from kickoff to the singing of the Alma Mater after the game. there are schools where the student section is full from 2 hours before kickoff to almost an hour after kickoff. Our student section is 1/2 full at kickoff, 100% full by the end of the first quarter, 2/3 full after halftime, and 1/3 full by the end of the game.
