If I'm there I'm always there til 00:00. About 1/3 of the student section was sold to the public. Most of them stayed too. I kind of wonder why they haven't been playing "Livin on a Prayer" or "Don't Stop Believin'" lately. Those got people on their feet too. "All I Do is Win" is a pretty cool song. Somehow I think the students will find a way to screw it up.
I was there until the end as well. I flew down from the Toledo, OH area just to attend the game, so I wasn't leaving early. I got to watch the band the whole game from where I sat in Section 236. The band was having as much, if not more fun than the crowd. It takes true dedication to be in the Golden Band from Tigerland. When you consider that a different bit is played after each down, (AND again when the LSU defense has held the other team and the opposition must punt,) they are one BUSY BAND! On another note, the score, while huge, would have been higher, had not 2 TD's been disallowed by the refs. Video repeats clearly show both to BE touchdowns, yet the call on the field was upheld. What's the point of having video for calls if most of the time, clear evidence is ignored?:geaux:
So tell me, have YOU ever played in a Marching Band in High School, or college? I was in a high school marching band for 4 years, and a University band (regrettably not LSU. I'm from Ohio.) for 7 years (including my years in Grad school), and invariably we played music from the 60's and the 70's. That was what was available to our band directors, unless you were lucky enough to have a talented arranger at your disposal. It would've been nice to play more up to date arrangements, but it wasn't there for the picking. If YOU wanted to jazz up the half time show, you could always volunteer to come down on the field and twirl a flaming baton. At least LSU has the GOLDEN GIRLS! The musicianship is first rate, and the routines are crisp. If you haven't ever done it yourself, don't criticize!:nope:
I don't know how many people know this, but.....when the band plays the theme from Rocky, it's actually paying tribute to Bill Conti who wrote the score (as well as many other musical scores for movies)... ...AND who is a graduate of LSU !!! :tigereye:
Dang - did not know that. Is that widely known or am I behind the times? That'll go over well with my buddy who's from Philly and a Temple grad.
They just need to play more and pipe music in on the sound system less. I can't believe they play so much music on the sound system now.
I am sure that if you were there until the clock hit :00, then he was not talking to "you", but as someone who was there, you have to admit that the stadium was empty late into the game.
