..After watching the Bama/FL game last night, our team really needs to put in some reps on saving the passing game. Brantley did a pretty good job of passing against the Bama secondary. I think LSU is going to have to be able to do the same to loosen up the LB's to open up our power game. Granted, Ware and Ford are no Demps and Rainey. Ware inc. are power backs, not little light weight sprinters. On the otherhand, I think Bama is in for a big suprise when they try to run against our D. I don't forsee Richardson bustin for 5-7 yards on most every carry against our D. He's good .. and he's going to get some yards, but he's going to be facing the twin brother of his own defense for a change. Bama is going to have to rely more on its passing game ... ie., bring in the "Honey Badger" ... he will get what he wants. We can take these guys! ... bring on the :crystal:
Bama is going to load the box and pray that Stud calls the same bland unimaginative offense that he did against Kentucky. If he does it will be a Bama win. I'm not too worried about our D, although Richardson is the real deal. He can pound you over and over and then break the big one if he gets a gap. LSU will have to move the ball and play field position. A bunch of three and outs giving Bama good field position and they will score. LSU has to find a way to get the ball in the hands of its play makers in space more consistently. Passes to the RB out of the back field and finding the recently disappeared TE's would help.
I agree .. we are going to have to move the ball. That's why I said we are going to have to have the passing game to loosen up the LBs, and unstack the box. Our D is good .. no worries there. As for Bama getting good FP ....uuuhhh ... I don't such exists if Wing is donig the punting. That guy is a freak when it comes to punting the football.
wing is a punting sob and honey badger gonna have a field day in tuscalooser. i think that game is gonna be alot like the oregon game only not as many points. we beat them by at least 7 probably 10. just going with my gut and les hasn't pulled any trick plays yet. he's saving them to rammer at bammer. :geaux:
I just hope the bama game isn't at 11:00 in the morning =S... can we hope for a primetime game? Networks would be foolish not to, don't you think? Possibly an ESPN Game Day game?
At the very least, a CBS-SEC game with ol Vernie-poo. I think that would be the most appropriate since he probably has a Saban Blow up doll
We had way too many drops. Shep had three drops that could have moved the chains, one would have been a big pick- up. I don't understand why shep isn't used like sproles is used in the saints offense. He could be our change of pace speed guy and be an awsome receiver out of the backfield where he would be covered by a much slower linebacker. I really think shep would rack up yards on a defense that tired or has a package where the big nasties are in instead of a speed package.
Shep in a role like Sproles has would be potentially scary. I have not seem many screens this year. Don't know if we are holding back for when we need them or don't show the capability to execute them well in practice. I hope it is the former and we spring a few on Bama.
This is the strategy I would use. And I think it is a good strategy: 1-D offense who has yet to have consistent success throwing the ball vertically with much success or consistency. I don't mean throwing to a guy 40 yds down the field but 10 to 20 yds with the occasional 25 to 30 yd reception. I'd also try to put as much pressure as possible on the QB to challenge him to make the proper read and, more importantly with JL's arm and mechanics, make the hard throw. Bringing in JJ won't make much difference in pure passing but he does present a pretty potent run threat but (based purely on his past seasons) he hasn't proven to have mastered this, either. Using our TEs and RBs could get 'Bama to play a bit more honest but there will be no National Championship if we cannot move the ball aerially with consistently. I'll go out on a limb and state that IF we don't win the BCS Nat'l Championship it will be due to mediocre QB play and "predictable" offensive play calling.
