Houston Baptist is all over my daughter like ticks on a hound dog. She's getting two or three emails from them a week. Lots of California folks have started taking a liking to TCU (it's a beautiful campus, by the way.) Depending on where she decides to go, we can take care of a degree with savings we've been collecting since she was a baby. The child who will need the big-time scholarships will be my younger daughter, who has her heart set on art school in Manhattan.
My house will be paid off in about 5 years, and I can retire in 9. If I left Texas now, 1) I would basically forfeit 21 years towards my retirement, 2) I would not move my daughter her junior year, and 3) the schools simply aren't as good as the ones they go to here.
I've taught in Louisiana and in Texas. There is no contest, sadly. And don't even get me started on amenities and infrastructure.
Yeah Einstien Copernicus and Galileo were on the wrong side of "settled science" of their time to. They were called heretics (today they would have been called deniers). If you and Al Gore were around you probably would have exceuted both.
Itd be a disservice to her children. There's no comparison. Unless she wanted to start by bettering the schools herself by teaching here. Bigger picture. Wouldn't better her kids though. Unless the lesson of such sacrifice plays a bigger part.
I started to say that. I understand her reasoning but i had to respond to the Texas attitude of better than thou.
