The point, Wiggum, is that Guilbeau merely rehashed the same old crap that everybody else has been putting out there. There was not one new item in the piece. Nobody gives a damn whether the local fish wraps are going to homer for LSU.
Re: Glenn Gulibeau is a piece of garbage The article sounded to me like someone who read about all the Niffle coaches being fired and started having a panic attack. We all know that Nick Saban could have a Niffle head coaching job anytime he wants one--he could have had one five years ago, and every year after that since. Most of those recently opened jobs will go to Niffle assistants who have an "in" with some front office guy they are drinking buddies with, or to recycled head coaches. There are rumors that Tom Coughlin will get the NYG job and that former NYG HC Jim Fassel will go to Arizona. Steve Spurrier might have screwed up the pipeline from the NCAA to the NFL more than we think also. I think these teams realize they would be better off with someone who has been in the league for the last few years and knows what he is dealing with, from a personnel stantpoint. It could be that Nick Saban is like a new debutante with five rich suitors--he is keeping his options open by talking to some of these people.
Re: Glenn Gulibeau is a piece of garbage The REALLY moronic thing about this article is that Saban's competitors will use this home town "source" in recruiting. I can hear it now, "Son, I didn't say anything bad about LSU, I just showed you an article in the paper over there - just something I thought you might want to know..." Guillbeau AND, more importantly, the editor who CHOSE to run it are no friends of LSU. I will say that and follow it with this statement: The Advocate is a liberal, worthless rag that is scooped by other papers constantly - always has been. To me most of the LSU beat writers have been anti-LSU and put out poorly conceived articles. Just go back and look. It's a shame we have to drag these type or writers around from our National Championship coat tails...
To a degree, it is a rag. Not sure about worthless, although we should all be able to agree liberal with a capital LEFT. With that said, I would subscribe to the Advocate 10 times over before falling down to the TP in NO. Something about that imaginary line running N/S in LaPlace that they just don't cross...
I guess I'll just get ready to die as well - 'cause I just know it's going to happen one day!!!!!!!!!!
You're right, it is not totally worthless. It's great to start fires, wrap fish, and at the bottom of bird cages. Note I did not say anything good about the TP, but they have on average had better writers (not the green ones). I just think it's a shame the better writers are in the publications for sale.
You guys don't know how lucky you are. You should have to be subjected to this piece of crap up here in OKC. They don't call it the Daily Disappointment for nothing!! Makes the Advocate look like Pulitzer prize material. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!
I'm not too unhappy with the coverage that LSU gets in the TP. We constantly get top billing over Tulane, as it should be. We get second billing to the Saints, as you would expect. They seem pretty positive, overall. The LSU beat writers for the Advocate sound like Richie Condon wanna-be's - looking to make a name by being controversial.
