Cowherd said it best on his radio show when the guy from California called in with the usual trying to knock LSU and the SEC for their lack of OOC strong games. Basically he made the point that the SEC from top to bottom makes a committment to winning and therefore you don't have to schedule a bunch of powerhouses in your OOC when you have 4 to 5 top 25 (lots of times top 15) just in the SEC. You can make a clear challenge for the title if you can escape that and the SEC champ with one loss. Meanwhile SC needs there OOC to be strong because of their PAC-10 schedule.

Hey gilbleaux how about writing for a real newspaper? Gilbleaux is still mad that Saban shunned him and that he was run off by the advocate for sloppy, lazy, uninformed writing. Even though he is a big fat slob he has little man syndrome big time. He can't stand the fact that he is an insignificant fly on the wall of the sporting news world. He lost all credibility years ago and is never taken seriously by anyone that follows sports closely. He would be doing himself a huge favor by fading away gracefully, but then that wouldn't be gilbleaux.

Guilbeau says how the only reason Florida made it to the NC last year was because USC lost and he is partially right cause the media said they would def put in USC (which I would like to describe as a media bias seeing they lost ot Oregon St. on the road while Florida lost to Auburn on the road) if they beat UCLA. He conveniently forgot to mention the other part of the equation about how Florida still had to jump Michegan who everyone said leading up to the Sec Champ game would DEF be the team to play Ohio State if USC was to happen to lose. That was the whole reason everyone you knew got plane tickets to California and Rose bowl tickets because "the experts" guarenteed us that no matter what it would be USC or Michegan playing Ohio State. Funny how things changed quickly after the nation watched the SEC champ game and suddenly changed their collective minds on who they would put in the Champ game. Wrong again Guilbeau.

Also he mentions Auburn's undefeated season in 04 as a good example of a weak ooc stopping you from getting in the NC. But seriously, the media was not going to jump Auburn no matter what they did that year when you had OU and USC going wire to wire 1 and 2. I can see it would have made a small impression on the voters (had auburn played a better ooc) but I think it only changes the margin of votes Auburn would have remain stuck at a #3 no matter what they did.

Nice try Guilbeau but your arguments are weak to pathetic at best.

If ole G.G. has read this thread, then I promise you he is thinking "mission accomplished". He obviously gets a kick out of pissing us off so theres no need to even respond to this highly syndicated article. Honestly with what he has written about us in the past, saying he has written an article flaming us is like saying "you will die someday", I just assume it. As Terry said earlier:

We have tried to schedule USC before and his choosing to ignore this fact and flame us should only be expected.

Not to nitpick, but the PAC 10 plays 8 conference games, meaning each team will avoid one other conference team each year. In 2003 when USC split with us, they happened to avoid playing Oregon, who was one of the more competitive teams in the league, while LSU was forced to beat Georgia twice.

I believe that Miles was not trying to criticize USC, but the conference they play in, and just like everything else he says, he doesn't articulate it well. I also believe that the comments were ill advised and will cause a bit of a media backlash against the program which we don't need at this point.

Correction: The PAC 10 has since changed their scheduling ( I believe in 2005) and play 9 conference games, meaning that they now play every team in the conference every year.

I actually do. But my point is that many reporters just write things to get noticed and/or a response. Some reporters' opinions are no more worthy of respect or belief than the average schmuck on the street.
