You missed my point. If he was healthy they would've put him over Ellis because he wouldn't have had such a disappointing second half of the season.
ESPN can't even get news right. Who the hell trusts them to put together a team? I'm sure Dorsey will sleep good tonight. As long as it isn't under his trophy shelf.
I was at the oil change place, and picked up a copy of the consistently awful ESPN: The Magazine. There was an article, "72 Reasons Glenn Dorsey Should Win the Heisman" (or something like that) which was basically a puff piece about how awesome he is. ESPN definitely didn't overlook him or employ the famous anti-LSU bias. His injury and ineffective 2nd half of the season hurt him.
It's funny how individual awards have so often been pooh-pooh'd in The Den and yet when it hits home, they are the be all end all. GD is a great player. He won tons of awards. To begrudge another player of one such honor certainly doesn't speak to good sportsmanship and I'd be willing to bet that GD doesn't have a problem with it. After all he did win the Lott Trophy. :yelwink2:
Everyone knows the SEC plays soft defence...:rolleye33: Guess the guy that is going first in the draft was just overlooked. Douchebaggery is afoot.
The only individual award that is remotely "pooh-pooh'd?" is the heisman. Isn't every fan base biased for their player when they don't win an award. That isn't to be confused with "pooh-poohing?" an award.
This is the only list that matters to me: All-SEC Team Offense QB Tim Tebow, So., Florida RB Darren McFadden, Jr., Arkansas RB Knowshon Moreno, Fr., Georgia WR DJ Hall, Sr., Alabama WR Earl Bennett, Jr., Vanderbilt TE Jacob Tamme, Sr., Kentucky OL Jonathan Luigs, Jr., Arkansas OL Andre Smith, So., Alabama OL Michael Oher, Jr., Ole Miss OL Herman Johnson, Jr., LSU K Daniel Lincoln, Fr., Tennessee Defense DE Titus Brown, Sr., Mississippi State DE Jeremy Jarmon, So., Kentucky DT Glenn Dorsey, Sr., LSU DT Marcus Harrison, Sr., Arkansas LB Jerod Mayo, Jr., Tennessee LB Brandon Spikes, So., Florida LB Wesley Woodyard, Sr., Kentucky CB D.J. Moore, So., Vanderbilt CB Chevis Jackson, Sr., LSU S Craig Steltz, Sr., LSU S Derek Pegues, Jr., Mississippi State P Patrick Fisher, Sr., LSU
Yes, most are but I will say this, when posters on the USC forum were bashing GD while he raked them in and said SE should have gotten some, Vball said the same there, defending Dorsey and supporting his winning them as being a very deserving recipient. I'd like to see our players recognized too but THE ULTIMATE reward for playing CFB is ours to take on January 7th. No individual awards are greater than that in a team sport, as I'm sure you'd agree. btw, don't pooh pooh on that Heisman yet, RP may bring it to Baton Rouge for us in a couple of years.
I just don't agree. Perhaps I'm oversensitive but how many times have I read here that it's about TEAM and not any one individual player (Heisman or otherwise)? Hey, I have few problems with awards but this forum for the most part has not been in massive favor of them. There is nothing wrong with being biased for one of your players (whether they win or lose) and yes most fans do that. But when your player has scooped up just about every award out there and somebody else wins ONE (and a minor one at that), it's okay to share the wealth. Sed did play well this year. Sed was voted by the coaches as the Pac DPOTY and was recently voted as the Morris Award winner for the 2nd consecutive year. The Morris Trophy is a unique award given to the outstanding offensive and defensive linemen in the Pacific-10 Conference. What makes the award unique is the selection procedure, which has the starting offensive linemen in the Conference voting for the defensive winner and vice versa. It is truly a players’ award. But back to Glenn Dorsey, he is an incredible talent and obviously a great person too.
