i cannot think of any other program that offers the services other than abortion, that planned parenthood does, at free or discounted prices, as planned parenthood. maybe it is time for the right to form and fund something that offers those same services, minus the abortions, at free and discounted prices. and also ask for federal funding. seems to me that the idea of preventing unwanted pregnancies through discounted contraceptives, thereby preventing abortions, is a good idea. add in the women's health services, female cancer screening, and std testing and treatment (thereby preserving a woman's fertility), are there is a lot of good being done. competition at even lower rates and more free services in those areas. there are a lot of right wing rich people and organizations that could fund such a program to offer these services to low income and uninsured women. these services save money. it is the old adage of spending a little to save a lot. preventing unwanted pregnancies means preventing abortion, or saving money by not having more children that require public services or placement into state custody. prevention of cancers and std saves a lot of money in treatment of those diseases. the expenditure of some tax dollars is going to save a lot of tax dollars in the long run. but the program to do that minus the abortions is going to have to be implemented and funded. the right is going to have to make a commitment to women in order to cover the other things planned parenthood does. things which, iimo, are very worthwhile and very much worth funding however it can be found. its a good investment in a lot of ways.
Good. I never liked him. Too much pontificating. He thought he was the oracle of universal truth and wisdom ordained by God to enlighten all us dummys. He was very articulate but was not all that intelligent. I would prefer to listen to somebody who can tell me something I don't know over some articulate person who says nothing new and even less that is accurate.
Take away the religious morality and what "right" does PP require that any other government expenditure does not?
The fact that PPH receives government money, it has been stated and reported they have excess funds. http://www.fightpp.org/show.cfm?page=basic “On June 30, 2009, PPFA had net assets valued at $994.7 million, of which $396.3 million was unrestricted (essentially a savings account) and $179.9 million was temporarily restricted. Despite these huge sums, PPFA incessantly claims to need more taxpayer dollars.” Simply put, NO!
Sorry that happened to you. The morning after pill must be administered within 3-5 days at the most of intercourse. It won't work how it's supposed to at 9 weeks. It prevents implantation of the egg which happens early on.
the morning after pill prevents ovulation, ie pre-fertilization so it can be used by protestants and catholics alike. but its only effective for like 4 or 5 days or so after the night of debauchery. at least thats what my friends tell me.
Ok, so you say that Planned Parenthood has no right to taxpayer money because they operate in the black. So why does Exxon/Mobil with the highest corporate profits ever recorded receive tax subsidies? If every corporation that operates at a profit should be ineligible for taxpayer money, then I'm all for eliminating funding to PP, . . . and Exxon, GE, Shell, etc., etc.
