@stevescookin @Pjoe Interesting. My son's lived in B'ham a little over a year and is very unimpressed with the people. He finds them to be not very nice and (I love this phraseology) "elitist in their stupidity."
@mctiger I agree there are some idiots here, maybe more per capita then most but I have found it is not a stereotype of the main stream community. At least here in TN they aren't winning either so I do not get too much flack. Most here are Ole Miss or Vol fans and both are in the crapper with us so we have that in common. We joke about who will improve first. Most here hate O and think he will cause some kind of sanctions if we keep him too long. As far as Bama, I guess its hard to be humble when you're so great!!
Bama fans memories are short lived, due to Saban's arrival and the constant NC/playoff appearances. It wasn't that long ago we owned them and had beaten them 5 straight seasons. I spend 3 years in Anniston, AL as a kid (9-12 yrs old), there was a handful of various SEC teams represented in our neighborhood, mostly Florida, Auburn, and Gump fans. I was the sole LSU kid running around. My Bama friends were obnoxious during football season, and they make you choose an allegiance between either Auburn or Bama... I liked Bo Jackson so I chose to root for Auburn during the Iron Bowl.
I lived in Mobile for a couple of years in the early 90's. I had to rent a car one Friday on the day before the Iron Bowl. When the guy handed me the keys he asked me if I was rooting for Alabama or Auburn. I told him I hoped they both lose.
