If I have to explain that to you then its hopeless but I am having a cup of coffee andva lityle time. 1. Inherited a team built by Elmer Fudd with personnel Elmer recruited 2. Had one week to get ready as HC, had to elevate a TE coach to OC and somehow cobble together a deverse offense. Stuck with Harris and a 6' 200 lbs transfer at QB 3. Beat 2 teams handily we thought we would lose to Ole Miss and Ark 4. Held Bama to one TD and had he not been stuck with an offense not geared to beat Bama may have won that game. This is not O's players these are Miles players 5. Team was very well coached yesterday. Offensive game plan was as good as I have seen. Offense in general played well enough to win except for 3 players fumbles and muffed snap and 1 wrong cut by our RB. Defense as usual played great enough to win 99% of the time. 6. Kids love O and he is a fabulous recruiter and is loyal to the school and his Louisiana roots, he will stay with us and not leave for another school.
Don't hate this list, just wish you could objectively look at the counter points. I also don't understand 1 point: when HC has a team that performs, he gets credit; when HC has a team that doesn't perform, he doesn't get a share of the blame? That's talking out both sides of your mouth.
I've been asking that question for years. If the team wins, it's because of the coach. If the team loses, it's because the players didn't execute. That is total horseshit. If that's true, then no coach should ever be fired.
Point 1 is easy. If fumbles, muffed snaps and a blown coverage for a 96 yd TD were common place yes I would start blaming the HC just not the case here.
With your reasoning if players screw up in one game like yesterday the coach should be fired, your bucket is chock full of holes. You are in the coach of the moment club and the coaches in your clubhouse (Herman & Jimbo) are more flawed than the one you are trying to run off. Dont think O would lose to Navy, SMU or N Carolina or let Louisville put 60 on us. Get another bucket.
I don't disagree in general, but every game this season was Eaux's Super Bowl. He takes a knock and probably ain't getting the job. It really seems like that was already made up, but what do I know. Did Eaux know he wasn't in the running; he sure seemed dejected after the Arkansas win. Good conversation; we'll make a regular of you yet.
Depends on how he team lost! Yesterday was 100% execution. I didn't agree with the last play call but poor execution throughout the game is what cost us, make no mistake!
Man you're clueless. When did I ever say I liked Jimbo Fisher? In fact, I always refer to him as Dumbo on this board. I have never liked him. He's proven that without Winston he's just an average coach. Now I do like Herman. I liked him when he was OC at Ohio St. He had to use his 3rd string QB and won a NC. Oh and beat Saban that year. Then he becomes coach at UH and puts them on the map in his very first year and wins the Peach Bowl against Dumbo. But since you know Herman so well, please tell us what are his flaws?? Now let's look at your beloved O. His one head coaching job was at Ole Miss, a bigger school with more resources than Houston. What did O do there? Any bowl games? Any big wins? Any winning seasons? He won a whopping 10 games in 3 seasons as HC. But in your eyes he has no flaws, unlike Herman. Yet in Herman's second year he has 22 wins at Houston.
