OK, well that's fine. I disagree, but whatever. I still think if you don't wanna pay big money to an established coach, you pay a lesser amount to an up and coming guru on either side of the ball. Heck, if you hire Aranda, at least the defense is locked down and you just need offense. The way we have it now is exactly what we had with Miles. We have to worry about coordinators on both sides of the ball because Orgeron isn't a guru on either side. We could hire Sean Payton as an offensive coordinator, but what happens when he leaves as he invariably will??
We would be broke and screwed if we payed jimbo 7 for 10 years. Fleck the offensive guru who coaches Western Michigan? playing against the big boys like Kent state, central Michigan, Illinois, northwestern (who they barely beat by the way). Look I like Fleck but the fact his he is also unproven and if you bring him in you can kiss 80-90% of the recruits good by.
This isn't quite right. We had a coach that could have done fine except he wouldn't/couldn't keep his hands out of the kitchen and let the guys he hired do their jobs.
That's speculation. The offensive talent we have gotten at WR and RB weren't scared away by Miles running an 1890s offense. You'd have to explain to me why they would leave in droves because of a guy who actually knows what he's doing. Anyway, I guess we'll see how it plays out. If Orgeron gets a good O Coordinator it might be OK in the short term, but if you have success, you'll be replacing both coordinators every few years. It's not a recipe for long term success...
They guy that recruited them left/was let go easy as that. We will have to see about the long term success......Didn't renew my ESP.....N
Some of our fans have a serious inferiority complex. They don't believe any coach worth his salt wants to come to LSU.
Just because he asked for 10 years doesn't mean he expected to get that. Likely negotiating high to move up from a 6 year to 8 year or somewhere in that range.
Not the same with Miles, as long as Coach O understands the need and goes out and gets a modern offense. This would be the same thing if we hired an up and coming DC like Aranda as a HC, we would have to rely on his ability to go get a modern OC and modern day O. You hire a guy like Herman and keep your fingers crossed that he gets a DC who knows the landscape in the SEC an can compete on that side of the ball. Offense isn't anymore important than defense, it just is to LSU fans.
He is dwelling on where LSU will be in 3 or 4 years. Nobody cares about 2020 yet..........Gilbeau is an idiot
Alleva know Jimbo wouldn't move for 6 mill. Jimbo was a smoke screen for the real play which was Herman.
