Hi LSU fans, I was wondering if you guys can give me some insight into darry Beckwith. Some of the fans on the giants msg oard are already putting together mock drafts so i figured id join in. well i have beckwith as my 1st rounder because antonio pierce hasbeen less than stellar and on the draft site i use he is the 3rd rated ILB. I got blasted for this from a couple members. Addmittingly i dont know much about the kid so any help would be apprecciated. 1)what are his strengths/weaknesses 2)is he worth a very low first rounder
i bet you do:wink: i just hope dallas either gets ousted from the playoffs or are 1 and done cause i really dont want to face them again.
I haven't seen anything from any of our LB's that makes them first-round worthy. Beckwith seemed to take a huge step back this year. Of course, that could be due to injury, scheme, etc., but I can't see him going before the third or fourth round. I think he'd be a steal in the fourth or fifth round. Hope that helps a little.
I agree with 4th or 5th round. I saw Beckwith overrun plays constantly and his fundamentals are not great. He lets the blockers into his body too much instead of attacking the block and using his hands. I do think maybe the injury had something to do with that but i was dissapointed in his play this year.
In general I would say second or third round, but I don't know much about other LB's available in this years draft. It also depends on teams needs.
y'all could snag beckwith later on in a mid round unless a team is desperate or there's a run on the position in the draft. i think he'll be ok once he gets in the NFL, his negatives are his injury history and at times he's out of position but i may be willing to put more of that on the coaching this past year.. i wouldn't look for the guy to be a star but more of a solid contributor.
Didn't Beckwith just move to the middle this year, and it didn't work out that well. Is he naturally better on the outside. I thought he was a real comer his soph. season playing on the outside. He was injured a lot of his jr. year. Could it be an injury it takes two years to fully recover from? Was it his ankle or knee?
While I don't think he played as bad as some say, I think he definitely played himself out of the first round. That being said, there are still a few services that rate him as one of the top LB's in the draft. Which is understandable since the worst DC's in CFB excuse is as legitimate as an excuse can be.
