Its around 8 in January 2018. I'd wait till the end of the season and let the new AD hire a new coach if we've got funding. If not, hope this is all a big misunderstanding and O turns it around. But everything is pointing toward O being a colossal mistake and every minute he's here he makes the next guy's job tougher. And more importantly to our overlords, he hurts the brand.
The money we owe Orgeron will be a drop in the bucket compared to the revenue we stand to lose if this clown is HC for another year. Imagine a 2/3 full TS for the AU opener as the ceiling from here on out. Add to this the fact that the AD has nickeled and dimed its way to an increasingly frustrating tailgating scene while adding no value, AND for the privilege of watching a garbage product, and people will stay home in droves. In short, the LSU AD is placing its entire business model in serious jeopardy if they pull this Joe Dean bush-league bullshit and keep him for another year.
It's not going to happen over night. Today's offensive problems are not going to be fixed over night. We need to become more balanced. Defensively we got hit hard by graduation. Injuries obviously haven't helped. I think Aranda's the right guy for the job. We don't have any upper class leadership. Perhaps our strength & condition program needs to be examined. Do we need to rethink our recruiting philosophy? Oh, AND FIRE ALLEVA ASAP. Lots of problems and questions to be answered. It's not going to get well anytime soon.
No way they fire coach O this year. Maybe and this is a huge maybe, if he finished 3-9 he gets fired. But even then, I think he gets 2018.
It is going to depend on how the season plays out, but .500 in SEC play is the absolute ceiling for this team. Anything worse than that and all bets are off. If he goes 3-9 he is absolutely done.
LSU is still paying Les on his buyout. If they fire O that's another huge buyout for him & his staff. And one thing I haven't seen addressed is who are you going to get to replace O? How much is LSU willing to pay to attract a top notch, "name" coach? What I'm suggesting is perhaps we need to be careful what we ask for.
That would be the what (25 million) dollar question? Not sure what those buyouts combined plus the new coaches salary would be. Ya, I don't see anyway Coach O gets fired before the end of the 2018 season. Highly unlikely but Les getting hired somewhere could open that door though.
My deal here is what happened to canada going from pitt putting 50000 points on every one even the defending NC? Again I think our biggest issue is personnel. Frankly (and I know this is going to ruffle some feathers) but could we still be suffering from the stupid but talented athletes that we have been recruiting for years? Is the play book that hard for these guys to get, they got it up in pitt. Also I get it they had several years to understand it, but when I hear things we need to simplify things in makes me wonder. Do we perhaps need to go for the 3-4 star guys with brains and instead of the flashy 5 star athlete that cant spell his own name? Personally I dont think Canada is an issue, we know aranda isn't the issue, and I still think O isn't an issue. The pieces are in place staff wise we need the players. Just food for thought.
