There are 1001 bars in Baton Rouge and two casino riverboats. And New Orleans is only a hour away . . .
I can help with this. But a lot depends on what scene you're looking for and how old you are. But I'll start near your hotel since you're staying on S. Acadian. If you go left on Perkins from S Acadian, you have The Bulldog (pub-style, mixed crowd, good beer selection, great patio, my neighborhood watering hole ), Uncle Earl's (college crowd, dance music, etc.), and Happy Note (hole-in-wall, juke box, few TVs). Go right on Perkins and you've got the Perkins Overpass area: Chelsea's (live music, good food, mixed crowd), Duvic's (good martinis, eclectic crowd), Ivar's (pub/restaurant, mixed crowd). All within walking distance of each other. And a few more places I know I'm forgetting. If you want to stick around campus, you've got North Gate Tavern, The Varsity and Chimes Restaurant (LSU institution), and Serrano's. The last 2 are more restaurants than bars, but Chimes has an excellent beer selection. If you want to party like an LSU student and aren't over 25, go to Tigerland. Downtown is good if you want variety and like Bud said, 3rd Street is the place to be with Happy's Irish Pub and Roux House (live music, good beer, mixed crowd), Boudreaux and Thibodeaux's (swamp-themed decor, mixed crowd, generally pretty fun), Punchers (MMA crowd), Red Star (fun place, eccentric crowd), and Wine Loft (if you want to class it up). Hope this helps!
Your bar knowledge is one of many reasons I <3 you The fact you own your own beer wench outfit and a cornucopia of wigs to go with it is the other
By the way mattyl, if you become a regular around here one of the peeps might just invite you to a tailgate...just saying.
Guys/girls cannot thankyou enough. The information you have given is amazing . Never seen such enthusing talks about a topic in any city I have been too around the world. I must say I have never been more excited to visit BR and experience the college/party/football/local scene. All the bar,pub selection u have All mentioned is amazing. Oh by the way about driving on the right side I used to live in tahoe for about 6 mnths but that was in 2002. Very keen to get involved with this "tailgate" party scene, we are all between the ages of 25-29 so not sure of that is past the college age or not but we all feel young and enjoy the London lifestyle. Hope to continue this topic in a sticky as mentioned Cannot thank everyone enough for there advice. I guess all I cab say is GO LSU!!!!
then you can bring him over to ours. between the two, he likely wont be sober come game time. if he is, we didnt treat him right.
Haha oh my I am loving this I just wish we had more time in BR but we only have one night then must drive to austin as heading to Vegas by the 21st. However we r up for any party or tailgate party.
I'm a little freaked out right now. Bud Lee is in this thread a lot, and I cannot help but see that new sig pic he's adopted. Dude, that is GROSS and it totally counteracts the nice easy going vibe of your avatar pic from the kayak. Stop freaking me out!
