the dem leaders want single payer healthcare, but that was never proposed. and even the option for it was removed. that is negotiation and compromise. the gop made fake gestures just so they could hold up something to the tv. they knew it had no chance and they actually do not want it anyway. if they did they would have tried at least once in the past 80 years. if the want to serve their constituents, they will use the opportunity to shape reform not kill it.
Maybe, or perhaps they are listening to their constituents. But there isn't even a concensus in the dem party itself, much less with repubs. That's why it took $300M to buy off Landrieu, $100M+ per year to Nebraska, and exemption from the cadillac tax for labor unions for at least 5 years (in effect, meaning all of us who do not belong to unions have to suck it up for them). All this, of course, out of the public eye. Not to mention O can't even decide if he's for a single payer option or not, at least if one listens to what he says while a candidate to now. Repubs want tort reform, dems don't; repubs want to open competition b/t insurance companies, allowing folks to buy insurance across state lines, dems don't.
so. if everyone had the same ideas there wouldnt be a problem, would there? make it work or your just there to maintain status quo.
if i were a candidate, why should i have to refuse money from anyone, foreign or domestic? must you manage every detail of everyone else's life?
Hey, hell, you're right. The problem repubs have is giving more control of something to the government, which in turn creates yet another bureaucracy; dems don't seem to mind.
because empirically we know that pols cant be trusted. giving an ear to domestic companies is one thing, giving it to foreign companies is another. talk about conflict of interest. could argue it leads to treason. it seems you dont think. that reform needs to be done. you should be proud of the gop. they are very effective. but that is dangerous. business has a storied history of chewing up people and spitting them out. and gov has a history of limiting that abuse. choose sides.
I've chosen sides. I have yet to call out your intellect, but like a good little lib, you can't help but attempt to call out mine. That same business you so despise also has a history of providing jobs, something this country is sorely lacking. If you think government is the solution to all this nation's ills, so be it. I, however, do not. You can leave it at that, or you can continue to make an ass out of yourself by touting your cerebral superiority.
