I'm reading JayB's posts and going, he's got to be playing up the sarcasm really strong here. It is sarcasm, right? You can't possibly be serious.
Okay, just got finished reading the JJ laughing thread and realized it's not a joke. This is pretty sad. There's a lot of things that need improvement, but I didn't expect LSU to go out this first game and be in mid-season form. The Huskies came ready to play, and they took it to us. I don't think this Husky team is anything like the 0-12 team of last year. I think they'll win 4-6 games and maybe sneak into a bowl. Let see what LSU looks like next week against Vandy before calling the season. We've got 4 warm-up games before the real bullets start flying. Let's calm down and see what adjustments are made.
Now ask yourself this. Where did Nick Holt coach last year and what was his title there? Where is he coaching this year and what is his title?
It seems to me that we have become spoiled fans. When baseball wins by one run, we pound our chests and congratulate our players. When football goes on the longest road trip in our history to open the season and wins a game, we contemplate suicide. One of our favorite Tiger Forums posters nearly popped more than one vein in his anger. I know we all have high hopes and expectations for our new football season. I know I do. But a win on the road is nothing to sneeze at. Sure, we've got some things that need work - but seeing them early is probably better for us than stomping on Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrow, running up huge numbers and NOT seeing them. I think our coaching staff and team learned a lot more about themselves than, say, Florida learned. Or even Kentucky. Or any of our sister SEC schools who wreaked havoc on a cupcake, many of them at their home stadiums. Besides all that, WE WON. Months from now, we'll reap the benefits of having been tested - and coming out on top. We'll play our share of lesser teams and put up some gaudy numbers, but we all know the only number that really matters is the one in the "W" column. It's a game, y'all. It is also the center of my universe - Tiger Football, that is. I live for the season - then I live for each game and enjoy every play. Some more than others, to be sure. I love when we win; I cry when we lose. But I don't agonize over a win. Sure, the Tigers could have looked better. They always can look better. But we WON. On the road. In our opener. Against a team that was fired up beyond belief and had a lot more athletic talent than we expected. The Tigers did not perform at their highest level - for whatever reason - and we still WON. I'm looking forward to next Saturday. And I'm HOPING to see a lot of improvement. But as long as the Tigers win, I'm a winner - and so are you. I don't know about you folks, but I could've used about a pound of Valium before the game. This was a long, long off season. And now, Tiger Football is back. And I, for one, plan to savor it. Game by game by game. And as long as we're winning, I won't complain....much. GEAUX TIGERS! AND GEAUX TIGER FANS!
Like they walked! I mean Hell, the game was just two hours later than a normal LSU night kickoff. It's not like they flew from Australia or something.
