Yeah and if you take away Jefferson's three touchdown passes and make them interceptions returned for toucdowns, and we would have been blown out. :dis:

Do NFL and NBA players go to class at 7:30 AM? I would say Miles and Chavis both looked like they needed a nap at the end of the game...

I'm sorry, but were you impressed with Va Tech last night? What a crappy offense and QB THEY have...

We'd have probably done better against them, at least defensively.

The win was ugly. But, as Red pointed out, we improved even during the game.

Or is it that Bama's defense was that good?

If I had used Ok. State, would that have made more sense? If Ok. State would have played us, we would have been beaten like a drum.

va tech remains overrated. thats one bad offense carried over from last year.

they are definitely good but this may be one va techs highest scoring games all year against anyone that matters. they got 24 pts on 150 yards.

theres money to be made betting against this team.

I haven't read most of this thread (haven't decided yet if I even will).

am I upset about our performance? hell yeah I'm p!ssed

    However...

    • Toliver looks like he's gonna emerge into a true stud.
    • Jefferson never really made one of them mistakes that makes you want to choke your dog (my lab thanks you JJ).
    • Peterson was all over the place and played his azz off.
    • Keiland may be back to his late '06/early '07 self.

All in all, yeah it was pretty lackluster for the most part.
But there are some definite positives to take from this game.

We looked really vanilla on both sides of the ball and it kinda reminded me of the Miss St. game in '07.
Only Locker wasn't kind enough to throw the ball to our wide open DBs like State did that year.

Sorry, folks. The jet lag thing is crap. Two hours going west is cake. Hawaii? I would buy it. Europe? Definitely. Two hours West - not an issue.

The bigger fatigue issue is that UW kept our defense on the field for the majority of the game and converted WAY too many 3rd downs. I think that's the real fatigue everyone was seeing.

why so upset. too many unrealistic expectations.

new coordinator, new ol, new fb, new dc, new qb. you dont replace herm and quinn johnsons right away. chavis doesnt bring back the '03 defense by snapping his fingers. chad jones doesnt play perfectly just because he has five stars next to his name. and shep isnt going to win games by himself.

there were disappointing things. there were also some things that were never going to happen.

Last year we thought we had things rolling after the Auburn game, good win. The of the year came and the Auburn win just didn't look that great. Washington has some players. The thrid down conversions the Huskie's made worry me. Expectations can really get over the top at times.

I think one of the factors driving the concern is that some of us sense that Washington isn't a very good team still.

We won't know for sure for a while.
