All this talk of how it's the end of the world and I'm sitting here wondering two things: 1. Maybe the new coach, who inherited a world of talent from the great recruiter Tyrone Willingham is, actually made a world of difference and has something special going on at UDub? Maybe. Maybe, eh, Jay? And 2: If you worry this much about week one and all your worrying is right, then you're going to be dead from stress by week 7. You know, in the middle of October. CHILL OUT, PEOPLE.
It's was obvious they had no idea. We play Forida, Bama, Auburn and Ole Miss every year, see all the crazy new formations that come from Nutt and Meyer, and they still had no idea. Gimme a break, dude. This is LSU. The bottom line is that we should have played better football. The tackling was bad, the offensive playcalling was bad, the pass and run blocking was bad, the 3rd down defense was bad, etc. Thank God this was against UDub and not VT. We would have been rocked, and you know it. Besides, I believe the #15 Arizona St. game followed in the wake of Katrina and the hell she brought to the team. Struggling early on in that season warrants somewhat of a slight pass, which factors into the fairness I mentioned earlier. There was a whole entire new coaching staff as well. This year, it's Chavis and a few others. The transition should have been much smoother than it looks to be, especially after hearing about all of the "attitude" and "excitement" that he brought to the defensive side of the ball, of which little was found. The guy looked almost as confused as the players, not to mention rarely, if ever, fired up.
The jetlag excuse is BULLCRAP! Do the Miami Dolphins suffer from jetlag when they play a road game against the Seattle Seahawks? Are the New England Patriots at a jetlag disadvantage when they play at San Diego? Are the Lakers at a disadvantage when they play a road game against the Celtics in Boston? Does a road series at the Oakland A's make the New York Yankees the automatic underdog? If Washington had hosted the Florida Gators instead of LSU last night would the game have been so close? Sports teams both college and pro regularly travel long distances to play road games. It will be interesting to see how Washington does the rest of the season and how many games they win. Clearly Sarkisian has them started on the right track but with the disparity in talent between the Tigers and the Huskies and even with the conservative offensive play calling the only reason the game was as close as it was is because of John Chavis's defense. Washington ran 83 plays on offense compared to only 48 for LSU. [/U]
This is a great post Cajun. I am so glad to see someone post something like this. Every time :helmet: doesn't do what some of our fans what them to do, they get mad. I get so tired of coming to this board and seeing nothing but negativity when we are not playing just right. It is one thing if you go to a different board and seeing it, but you should not see it on our board. I will always love and support the Tigers, and if we win that is great, and if we lose it will be ok. Life is too short to worry about it. :geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
Doh! Yes, let's chalk this up as a loss! Disappointing and frustrating performance no doubt, but come on.
Good idea. Dude, you are out of control. We won the frigging game and you want to throw your own team under the bus! LSU improved during the game and will continue to improve.
Last night was the definition of an ugly W. If I hadn't watched the game and only relied on some of the stuff I've read on here I would swear we got blown out. Relax folks. With the exception of sloppy tackling, most of the other issues can be corrected or improved upon. Whose idea is the no huddle offense? Please drop it.
