well in richt's case, maybe we can just go to a 2 game season so that way we can just put in the 2 hottest teams and disregard the other 10 games.

the whole losing late tradition created from the polls has caused this mentality that still exists. LSU losing in triple overtime to 2 heisman candidates is not worse than losing to a 6-6 USCe team on your home turf.

nor getting pistol-whipped by donut boy when your division title was in the balance.

maybe if we had a 2 or 3 game schedule we could then overlook beating troy by 10 at your own house and squeaking by vandi. let's just do that from now on since those games dont really count.

UGA was watching the result of corrupt SEC officiating.

But I happen to agree with Richt. Georgia is healthy and surging.

Perhaps LSU and Georgia are both better than Ohio State and Oklahoma.
Within the last year, both LSU and Georgia have beaten VT.

The game in Baton Rouge next year should be interesting...

You must be talking about Miles' career record. He was 22-4 @ LSU before this year (.846).

This whole BCS mess is really quite simple ....the coaches and the Harris voters had a tough decision to make:

There were several good teams, or "deserving" teams, or teams under consideration, or whatever you choose to call it: OU, USC, UGA, Va Tech, LSU and Ohio State. The records and accomplishments are all pretty similiar, with one exception. UGA didn't win its conference or division.

If you look at the coaches poll, 10 of them (including Miles) voted us #1. The vast majority of the remaining 50 coaches had us at #2.

And it's really simple how they came to the conclusion of Ohio State and LSU:

Ohio State- the rest of the country put them in. They won their conference and only loss 1 game. Now let's take a look at the other "candidates"

LSU: 11-2; won conference-CHECK; notable wins- Va Tech, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn; losses- to 7-5 KU in Triple OT, to 8-4 R-Kansas in Triple OT

Oklahoma: 11-2; won conf-CHECK; notable wins- Mizzou 2, and Texas; losses to 6-6 Colorado, and to 8-4 Tex Tech both on the road

USC: 10-2; won conf- CHECK; notable wins- AZ State, Oregon St; losses at home to 4-8 Stanford and to 8-4 Oregon

Va Tech: 11-2; won conf- CHECK, notable wins- Boston College, Clemson, Virginia, Florida St and Ga Tech; losses- BY 41 Pts to 11-2 LSU, at home to 10-3 Boston College

UGA: 10-2; won conf- NO, notable wins- Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Ga Tech; losses- at home to 6-6 S Carolina, and by 21 pts at 9-4 Tennessee

I think anyone can look at these 5 2-loss teams and through process of elimination come to the same decision that the voters did.

THE CASE IS FRIKKIN CLOSED!!!! HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

Exactly. I forget which talking head said it, but one of them said something to the effect that there's no rule that says you need to win your conference or division to play in the NC game because common sense doesn't need a rule.

How can they be considered one of the 2 best teams in the nation if they're not even the best team in their conference. We could've said the same thing about our team down the stretch last year. I guarantee FU didn't want to see us again in the SECCG.

the reasonable point that hasnt been made here (but ive heard a lot around town) is why would voters put UGA at #4 last week knowing that they did not win the SECe?

the whole thing about UGA not winning their conference is artificial because of the division setup in the SEC. LSU, UT and UGA each had two conf losses.

i think it should be OU and UGA in the NC game, because it would most likely be the best football game. i also think it should have been LSU and OhSt in the game last year.

i think if you're for a playoff, you should be for putting the two teams playing the best on the field.

cfb is continuing to put crappy product out.

i am very thankful though that the BCS created crappy bowl matchups. now it is unlikely that there is much argument who will be NC after the NC game. the winners of USC/UGA and OU/VaTech would have a lot of national backing in the event of a lackluster LSU/OhSt game.

Are you kidding me? You couldn't be more wrong. First, college football is different than pro football. I don't look at it like NFL games. The kids that play the game are not getting paid (at least they'r not supposed to), so it's not a 'product'. Second, have you even watch any of the games this year? Are you familiar with any of the innovative offenses and defenses? How is that 'crap'?

Now, if you're saying the system, particularly the BCS, is 'crappy', then I will agree with you. But college football as a whole is way more exciting than the NFL.
