#24 is gonna need to make some big plays in the backfield to get those backs out of rhythm. with that and an improved interior rush, we have a decent chance of containing that inconsistent offense.

What is the likelihood that Peterson gets assigned to cover AJ Green on every play? Do we ever do that?

    I wouldn't say very likely.

    From the Advocate today:
To this point, Peterson has covered a specific side of the field, as opposed to a specific receiver. He said that could change, but early in the week LSU players were coy on if Peterson defend Green exclusively.

“(LSU) coach (Les Miles) knows what’s best for the team,” said Peterson, whose 37-yard interception return for a touchdown got LSU off to a fast start in last week’s 30-26 win over Mississippi State. “But hey, if he gives me that duty, I’ll be more than happy to guard (Green) all night.”

And if he doesn’t get Green the whole night, “whenever they are on the same side, it’s going to be a show to watch,” Riley said.

Georgia has a decent offensive line, do we matchup well upfront against their offensive line. Thats the key to this game.
Also with the Green matchup, Chad Jones has to play his position this game.

i agree whole-heartedly about uga's TE being a major concern. he is a big-time talent and MissSt's TE killed LSU.

i dont think PP can stop green. i'd be happy with just keeping him to his avg. get to cox and its moot.

uga has had big problems running the ball. they lost their best OL, sturdivant, (again) to injury. theyve started 4 different lines in 4 games. the good news is while king and samuel are pretty good runners they are both young. samuel has problems in pass protection and king has problems out of the backfield.

the pass blocking of the OL is pretty good. AzSt has a top DE that couldnt get to Cox. we'll see what rahim can do.

they have a Fr WR coming up to speed. dont be surprised if Wooten (fast flanker type) plays a big role if they cant get to green.

their interior DL is OK with Owens and Atkins. theyve had poor pass rush and DE was a big concern coming into the season, but their DE houston was SEC Lineman of the week.

bottom line is they are ok. ok everywhere, but spectacular nowhere. this is not the uga of 5 yrs ago that had 4 or 5 future nfl starters on D. they have maybe 1 in curran.

So Georgia is preparing a gameplan in which Green will be on Hawkins side for almost the entire night. I hope Hawkins keeps up the great play, this will be a major test for him.

I think you are crazy to believe, PP cant stop Green.
Green is good, but PP is a great cover corner. Im willing to bet Green couldnt beat PP deep.

No DB can win em all. I bet it's just like Riley says. It'll be quite a show. My bet is neither man will hurt his reputation after its over...

And consideration should be given to letting PP blanket Green all night...

I don't think Green will want to line up away from him all night. Every competitor wants to prove themselves against the best. These two are two of the best at their positions...

Primetime was close. When teams wont even throw to your side of the field. I think you have won them all that game.

Point being, primetime had to build that reputation. PP hasn't built that kind of rep yet...but he's well on his way and way ahead of the curve. With that said, I don't want to see anyone else on Green but PP, even though I'm sure that won't happen.

Primetime's reputation was not just his cover skills, but the fact that IF he picked one he was a real threat to house the pick EVERY time. Coaches can live with INT's (at a minimum), its the INT's +6 that really kill them because it doesn't give the defense a chance to make up for the mistake. Look at Chris McAllister. He was once considered a top 3 corner because of his cover skills. But he wasn't a pick-6 threat so they still threw to his side. He made his reputation purely off cover skills. It's those DB's with WR skills that really lock up one side of the field. PP has those skills, he just needs more games to really show it off.

Another thing about Primetime...they wouldn't throw to his side but they ran to his side all the time because he was NOT a tackler, lol.
