I've seen a lot of debates going on for topics directly and indirectly related to the trial but had not seen anyone defend Zimmerman as a person. Could you give a few examples of why you perceive his character to be good? For example, heard something about his myspace page referring to his ex-wife as his "ex-hole" and some other anti-Mexicans rants. Haven't kept up with all of the details but my impression of him has been negative from the beginning.
I'm not sure using his opinion of his ex wife is a good way to judge his character. Many a man has had not so glowing things to say about house stealing bitches. Just sayin...
True, I hadn't even heard the ex thing until this morning. Just meant that I had not heard anyone defend Zimmerman as being an all-around decent guy until the guy in this thread. I think that may be part of the reason that a segment of our society is so outraged. If Zimmerman just seemed like a normal guy without a checkered past and doing what most people would do, the outrage wouldn't be nearly as strong.
I guess. I still just can't find the motivation to look into much of it other than what I read here or hear in passing on a channel for a few seconds.
Do some research and don't depend on any one resource . Too many people are feed off the T.V. teet and never try to form a opinion of their own.
Sometimes I feel that I'm the only person left in this country that flip flops on topics when researching each side's stance. Everyone that I know personally is either fully entrenched in the Fox News message or the Obama is our saviour. Well, except for those that don't talk openly about politics. They are probably the only sane ones remaining.
Between Casey Anthony & George Zimmerman, I'm beginning to understand why Aaron Hernandez thought Florida would be a lovely place to attend college.
I find the anti-Zimmerman people mind boggling. Do they really believe that Travon DID NOT initiate the violence, or do they think that Travon was justified in violently attacking Zimmerman? Which is it?
Oh I have no problem with my opinion. My comments were strictly about this story. I have refrained from saying a whole bunch about it because I havent looked into it. I think I lost interest when the police investigated it and the da didnt want to take the case to trial. Of course then one of the biggest crooks in the land (that would be the guy we refer to as the head of the DOJ) steps in and forces them to. It was all a circus at that point. See
I attempted to ignore the story as long as I could but have heard from some of the anti-Zimmerman group that their impression of him includes a long list of incidents that he's been involved in. I think that they feel any person that has that many incidents at a somewhat young age must have inflamed the situation in this particular case. Of course, Trayvon also had incidents but those are (intentionally) overlooked. If someone rear ends me from behind and I get out of the car to assess the damage, chances are that it will not escalate into a physical confrontation. If one of my best friends was rear ended by someone with the exact same personality as himself, he'd probably end up getting in a fight. Maybe not the best analogy but the point is that both probably played a role in escalating the situation, especially when you consider all of other conflicts they had been in.
