president bush is a genuine hero for authorizing waterboarding. he showed actual bravery. bush is a good man. too bad he is a religious kook that loves to spend. otherwise he is pretty fantastic. incidentally, i happen to know some folks that work for the secret service. young guys, that dont really get the top assignments (they guard visiting dignitaries and do other low level stuff). but they have met bush and dealt with him a few times. all reports indicate that he is as i suspected, a genuine and awesomely friendly dude.
Honestly, I rarely read political books or biographies, finding them too self-serving. I devour history, geography, novels and non-fiction books but I get most of my political information from being a news junkie, both paper and electronic. Have you actually read Hillary's or Obama's books? What do you think about Woodward's books?
you sure you don't smoke a pound a day? a hero for authorizing torture, and that showed bravery? so it's brave to tell someone to tell someone else, to tell someone else to tell someone else to tell someone else a hundred more times to a guy that it is ok for him to torture his prisoner? Hero? No Great President? No Top 10 President? No Top 25 President? No Cool dude to get baked with? Sure.
yes. yes. yes. some people have a conscience, and realize that they are making decisions that are significant and serious. honestly do you think he authorized torture because he is evil and loves to inflict pain? he doesnt want to have to torture, sparky, he authorizes it because he knows it makes us safer.
No i don't think he is evil. I think Cheney is evil, I think Rummy is evil, Wolfowitz, evil, Ashcroft evil, Rove, evil. Bush nah, but I don't think it's brave to advocate torture, I think it's cowardly. And please provide proof that torture keeps us safer. You can't can you.
what motivates their evil? greed? racism. just curious. not necessarily, but i suspect it does help interrogate the bad guys. and that is fine by me i dont inherently believe torture is wrong, i dont know why anyone would. torturing the wrong guy is certainly wrong, but we dont do that, probably. try to think in a way that is independent of liberal feelgood nonsense that is more about telling yourself you are a good person than actually accomplishing goals.
In his interview with Lauer last night, Bush said that of all they people they caught, they only waterboarded three. Apparently, one of the guys felt that he had fulfilled his religious requirements up until the point when they waterboarded them and then he was free to do what he wished. At that point, he gave them some valuable information. Of course, this was Bush saying this but if it's true, it would provide proof that waterboarding kept us safer.
what motivates their evil? Money and Power. And John Ashcroft put Chong in jail for selling bongs. So he should be put to death immediately. The eagle should soar down and pick his carcass. As far as torture, I just don't believe it does any good.
