This initiative has legs this time but it is still gonna be a pretty tough road, even with all the scratch they are gonna throw at it. Opponents are gonna spend and that includes the cops. Gotta get past the feds too but California has been down that road. My guess is the feds are gonna watch this and prolly support it if they believe this could carry nationally. California can mass produce and export what is agreeably the best stash in the nation. Other states are lining up for their own initiatives but they are gonna let Kali fight it first.

I believe they need to sell on the balance of funds saved from enforcement. Pile the gains up. With this assed up economy more folks are gonna vote for the dollar.

My first thought from a legal perspective is that this would end up being statutory law. Therefore, the federal statutes would trump it. That's why even in states where medical use of it is permitted, the possessor can still be fined or jailed for having it if they are caught by the Feds, even with a perscription from a doctor. My thought is all it would do is keep state cops from pursuing the possessor to find out if they had a perscription or not (with regards to states permit medical use).

However, if it takes root across the country (multitude of states) to create statutory law legalizing pot, they may have a case in federal court or put pressure on DC to repeal the statute naming pot an illegal drug.

Here is a thought, the feds seem to want to control every aspect of the states through funding and us through health care and global warming.
Don't believe me go listen to Senator Dingle from NY as far as health care goes.
I'm not trying to change the thread, just trying to get people to realize the Fed is out of control.

Think about it, they can at least limit our freedoms and have more control over our lives in many ways.
Soon you will be nothing more than a number with limited choices.
