Re: Fall Weddings Gotta go with Grad here. My wife opened an invite last summer. She told me the date and I said "nope, I'm out" She tried to explain how important it was and I said "It's LSU/Florida I am out" and no, I didn't end up going.
Re: Fall Weddings I'm on the "nice gift, regrets" train. Specifically - purple wrapping paper, gold ribbon, LSU foldup wallet schedule with the Florida game circled as the gift tag/card. Inside - a very nice electronic picture frame with an SD card of your favorite pictures of LSU games, you tailgating, etc. They'll appreciate the gift, see the humor, and you'll be good to go.
Re: Fall Weddings not me. if some douche is dumb enough to schedule a wedding on the day of ANY game, let alone a conference game, he deserves no gift, no phone call, not even a post card. phuck him! if he wanted me there, he would have been more thoughtful and considerate when setting the date.
advice to men.... if she is wanting to get married anytime during football season, run. so what if its a bye week, it wont be next year. or the year after. the only acceptable football season wedding is at a tailgate with lots of beer, and then starting married life at a game in tiger stadium. and then making that an anniversary tradition. i mean, if you're gonna have to get married, you might as well get a football game every year out of it. even better for the guests so they dont have to miss a game and get free beer and a tailgate! anything else is for the off season.
Re: Fall Weddings I skipped a cousin's wedding for a home game against A&M in '91 or '92. She didn't speak to me for a year or so. But I can't say too much, I was married June 12, 1993...had to delay the ceremony 15 minutes till the game ended. Go to the game.
Re: Fall Weddings Or that. :thumb: (since I haven't lived near other Tiger Fans for over 22 years, my perspective is a bit phucked up...)
I was married in November of '99 on a bye week. It worked out perfectly for all concerned, plus it was a s**%%* year for LSU football, so I'm not sure people would've cared all that much anyway. Since I'm the one in my marriage that actually cares about these sorts of things, never have I had an anniversary celebration interfere with football--and sometimes I've gotten grief for that. Sometimes, he can act like the woman in the marriage. Jeez...
i know what that is like. :hihi: i got married right before baseball season during the winter off season. not that it matters. i'd still put football and baseball first.:hihi:
