Just what I was thinking. What does this do to his head while he is still pitching for us? Hope his pride is deeper than his soon to be pockets.
I'm assuming that since KG is a freshman, he was drafted last year before enrolling at LSU. QUESTION: Can someone tell me what round he was drafted last year? Thanks
Nola went 5th round to Marlins Goody went 6th round to Yankees LSU commit Joey Gallo went #39 overall LSU commit Jesmuel Diaz went #51 overall LSU commit Hayden Jennings went 6th round good news is that LSU commit Alex Bregman has not been drafted yet. he's a great hitter, was named the 2010 USA Baseball Player of the Year for his performance with the 16U National Team, and led the USA Baseball 18U National team to a gold medal in the fall. the broken middle finger on his right hand he suffered recently dropped his Draft stock
he just announced on Twitter he is coming to LSU he posted a pic of the LSU logo, and someone asked if he is going to LSU and he wrote "yup! Sure am!" he also wrote "@LSUbaseball y'all ready or what????" and some one wrote him: "HELL YES!!! Looking forward to seeing you in Alex Box" and he wrote back "no doubt #Cantwait"
after 14 rounds, the only LSU players that have been taken are Gausman (1st R), Nola (5th R), Goody (6th R), and the only LSU commits that have been taken are Gallo (#39 overall), Diaz (#51 overall) and Hayden Jennings (6th R) that's good news for keeping the rest of our committed recruits and guys like Rhymes, Katz, etc after the 10th round, drafted players can sign for a signing bonus of no more than $100,000, unless that MLB team wants to pay for it out of their pool, which they aren't going to do because that is all they have to spend on signing bonuses of their picks in the 1st thru 10th rounds, and it's not a lot of money (for example, the Royal's pool is $6,101,500, and last year they gave their 1st Round pick a $7.5 million signing bonus) These are the LSU commits named to the latest Rawlings All-American team: 1st Team: -SS Alex Bregman (New Mexico) -3B Joey Gallo (Nevada) -- DRAFTED #39 OVERALL 2nd Team: -C Christopher Chinea (Florida) -MIF Jesmuel Valentin Diaz (Puerto Rico) -- DRAFTED #51 OVERALL Honorable Mention: -SS Geonte' Jackson (Texas) -OF Chase Rivett (Gonzales, LA) -OF Andrew Stevenson (Lafayette, LA) -LHP Hunter Devall (Mississippi) -RHP Hunter Newman (Georgia) -RHP Taylor Butler (Lake Charles, LA) -RHP Russell Reynolds (Baton Rouge, LA) -RHP Mitchell Sewald (New Orleans, LA) off those, the only ones that have been drafted so far are in bold
he went way higher than expected a bunch of sources (Randy Rosetta, Scott Rabalais, and Shreveport-area newspapers and TV stations) confirmed Hayden Jennings will sign with the Nationals and go straight into the minors but who knows, maybe he'll change his mind. i read his older sister is at LSU, his younger sister plans on going to LSU, and he said that choosing between LSU and minor league ball would be "one of the toughest decisiosn I have to make"
might as well start calling Alex Bregman the "Bayou Bomber" he set the state (New Mexico) record with 18 home runs last season and check out this youtube video of him hitting 14 homes runs in less than 5 minutes in Fort Myers, Florida during the Perfect Game National Showcase:
