Orlando Sentinel - BREAKING: Gators DE Carlos Dunlap arrested on DUI charge by Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested overnight for driving under the influence and falling asleep at the wheel. Police found Dunlap, 20 -- a key part of Florida's national title push this week against Alabama -- slumped over in his Chrysler at a complete stop through multiple green-light traffic cycles at the 200 block of Southwest 34th Street at around 3:30 a.m., according to the police report. Officers reached into the car to turn off the ignition while the clutch was still in gear and finally awoke a "very groggy" Dunlap, the report states. Dunlap showed obvious signs of impairment, the report states, including bloodshot eyes, difficulty conveying basic information and the smell of alcohol on his breath. Dunlap told officers he was "at a gathering and headed home," according to the report. Dunlap was arrested and eventually booked at 5:52 a.m. after refusing to submit a breath test, according to the report. Dunlap faces one second degree misdemeanor charge of DUI, his first offense, and is still in jail as of this morning. There is no bond for Dunlap, but he can't be released until facing an Alachua County judge from a jail satellite at 9 a.m. The arrest comes at the worst time for the Gators, who are playing in this week's Southeastern Conference Championship Game on Saturday. Dunlap has seven sacks on the season and is considered a first-round draft prospect for the 2010 NFL draft. This is the first reported Gators arrest since linebacker Dustin Doe in July for driving with a suspended license.
