http://www.cbo.gov/publications/collections/tax/2009/effective_rates.pdf Here you go. The richer you are the higher your effective rate is. Plain and simple. Sure it does. The two charts show that percent of total income earned by the rich, even those nasty idle rich ones, is less than their total percentage of the tax burden. How is that not paying their fair share? Your inability to interpret good non-partisan data is not my problem. Then why do they pay the highest effective rates? No it isn't. For the umpteen reasons I presented before. Investment contributes directly to the GDP. Lower cap gains rates encourages investment. It lowers the beta and promotes more agressive investment. The investedfunds bear the risk of loss. Lower cap gains rates opens investment to more individuals. On and on I could go. Investment income is not the same as W-2 income. It simply is not.
So basically you are saying if you have enough money to gamble in the wall street casino you are given a tax break? If you profit off of it that is....
Then don't bitch about the deficit, because that lost income is costing us $700 billion. Republicans only care about themselves, I realize this, but the rest of us care about the country. Of course it does! We are getting to keep less of our money that the rich guy is. He gets the most benefit out of living here and he's letting us pay for it. So what? They should pay the same tax rates, they are equally citizens. That's the lie that you have swallowed hook, line, and sinker. They didn't create more jobs. They rolled over the money into more investments and widened the gap from the middle class since the tax breaks were implemented under Bush. If this creates more jobs, they why didn't they create more jobs in the last ten years? Answer me that. Why aren't they creating jobs now instead of sitting on that cash they saved from the taxman? It's a lie, that's why. All the tax breaks for the rich did was make the rich richer and make the United States of America poorer. I've addressed this before. Pay better attention.
but i want to bitch about it based on spending. of course. you are a good person, but your political opponents are bad people. that settles it. bully for you, mr good guy saving the world.
Because of the Alternate Minimum Tax AMT, I suspect. It's one of the measures to keep certain rich individuals from exploiting the tax code to to avoid paying taxes. It's also one of the tax complications that could disappear, if the income tax rate code was simplified and a flat tax rate for all people for all income was implemented and all legal avoidances eliminated. So does personal consumption, exports and imports of goods and services, government expenditures, etc. Opinions differ: "A main selling point for the cuts was that, by offering lower marginal tax rates on wages, dividends and capital gains, they would encourage investment and therefore boost economic growth. But when it comes to fostering growth, this isn't the whole story. The tax cuts also raised government debt -- and higher government debt leads to higher interest rates. If estimates of this relationship -- by former Bush Council of Economic Advisers chair Glenn Hubbard and Federal Reserve economist Eric Engen, and byoutgoing Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag and myself -- are accurate, then the tax cuts have raised the cost of making new investments. As the economy recovers and private borrowing rises, the upward pressure on interest rates is likely to grow even stronger. I have used standard growth and investment formulas to calculate that the overall effect of the Bush tax cuts on economic growth has therefore been negative -- and it will continue to be negative if the cuts are extended." William G. Gale of the Brookings Institution. Income is income.
Everyone wants what's best for the country. Problem is we all think what's best is what we want. No two people see things the same. I don't agree with everything republican nor do I disagree with everything democrat. I have voted for both in my lifetime. I have no problem with voting for a conservitive democrat. Some of the things republicans preach I do not agree with. Example I feel pot should be legal and the goverment shouldn't tell anyone who they can marry. If two girls or two guys want to be married so what. I don't agree with progressives. There is a diffrence in a democrat and a progressive as there is a diffrence in a conservitive and a republican. I do feel that most of us want what's best for the country for our kids sake.
you know what's weird about the whole pot thing. It seems to me like alot of teaparty people are pro legalization, but it's the religious sect of the republican party that is hindering this. Hell the tea party people are more pro legal than democrats are. There's another example of people voting against their own interest, me.
Prohibition has been a complete failure. Another thing many alcholics get drunk and violent. They get drunk and beat their family or get in bar fights. I have family members that have to fight with someone every time they drink. The experience I have with pot smokers is just the opposite. They laugh and eat. All the want is a bag of cool ranch doritos and a chocolate soilder.
