you were the one who made the claim about "reasonable" prices. i am making so such claim. i claim that a reasonable price is whatever the seller and buyer agree on. always. no it isnt. its buyer and seller. exchanges of goods and services are not anyone's business but the buyer and seller. if oil companies want to say "we want to hoard oil and sell it to nobody", then so be it. they are the ones who own the oil. the reason they wont do that is what lasalle calles the evil profit motive. and they wont raise prices to the point where nobody buys anything. i promise you, friend, you are ok. the market is protecting you. you will be able to afford the oil you need. we will be ok. nothing for you to worry about. maybe they will figure out that things cost what they cost.
"Wall Street analysts, Washington lawmakers and consumer groups are calling for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to curb speculation by imposing limits on how many such contracts any purchaser can buy" - your article is this a ****ing free country or not? jesus. let people buy whatever they want from each other, is that so hard? like i said, the level of entitlement is incredible. this is how you destroy civilization.
How does one just quit buying gasoline? Not everyone lives in cities with mass transit and cities that are built on top of each other.
Exactly. There is no need for a middleman futures trader between the buyer and the seller. They are just parasites that add to the cost of oil. Then why are you defending the middleman traders skimming and scamming the free market? Thank you, Mom. I promise you that we will discuss these things anyway because . . . well, you are wrong a lot. Maybe they will figure out a way to keep the greedy speculators from driving the market instead of supply and demand.
again, even if that is true, it doesnt mean they are any of your business. you are not entitled to cheaper oil. the guys selling the oil are entitled to sell it to whoever they want, its theirs. i defend freedom. and they are not scamming. they are free to buy whatever they want, from whomever they want, and sellers are free to sell them whatever they want, for whatever reason they want. i always defend the rights of folks to engage in voluntary transactions. if i need gold to plate my important underwater electronic devices from corrosion, because gold works best, and your investing and speculating on it was raising the prices and causing me to pay more, even though you dont actually use the oil, you just drive the market, while i have a real use for the golkd, then should we look to keep you from interfering with the market? also i dont see why the intentions of the speculators are any less "greedy" than anyone else. everyone wants to the oil for one reason or another, none more or less noble. i dont think it is right to go around assigning values like that. i am not as presumptuous as red.
Everything is my business on a forum for discussion. Stop trying to stifle discussion that displeases you. I just explained how entitlement is not an issue that anyone has made. You are creating a straw man to argue against. Knock yourself out. You defend foolishness. I just explained the difference between investing and futures speculation, too. Your continued ignorance on the topic is not my problem. Nor as wise, eloquent, and omniscient.
if you are not entitled to any sort of particular oil price then why are you discussing it? what is your point? that gas costs X amount? we knew that. and we know why. people investing in things and buying things from each other in private transactions is not "foolishness" its the most important concept on earth. if your "investment" drives up my prices, then what is the difference? neither you not the oil spec guys are actually making anything.
I'll discuses anything I want to, anytime that I want to, Are you stupid? You misunderstand, it is YOU that is foolish. I'm buying shares in a oil company, which does not drive up prices. Middleman traders raking off profits interfere with the supply and demand of suppliers selling to users. I've explained all of this before. Either come up with something new or be ignored. Endlessly repeating yourself wastes all of our time.
arbitrage is a normal and essential part of a free market. i guess we will agree to disagree. i think it is ok when folks buy things from each other and you are a communist. its settled.
