How does it make logical sense for a coach who dismissed a 5* starting QB with no viable backup and a defensive superstar prior to two separate seasons to suddenly get cold feet about reinstating a RB who may or may not have even started, and pawning off the responsibility to the team? Or is it more likely that he had already made the decision and gave the team one last opportunity to voice any problems they might have had with him being reinstated?
which ill advised comment? Im not sure he is an LSU type of coach. He wouldnt be top 5 on my list to replace Miles.
Ha Ha! Judging from the gumps we have on this forum, I'd advise you not to listen to those 'exspurts'.
I'm referring to his ill-advised comments in relation to an LSU team issue that has/had nothing to do with him. I don't even have five I would want to replace Miles if/when that time comes. I do remember on here when people were speculating on Miles taking the Michigan job that Patterson was very highly regarded by posters on this forum. I'm impressed with the job he's done at a small program. He's coaching up lesser recruits. They're winning and he's putting guys in the league so he's doing something right. With that said I can see him moving on within the next couple of years because TCU is not going to be a perennial front-runner in the Big 12 if they don't start taking some talent away from Texas and Oklahoma rather than taking what they don't want. But anyway, fuck him. I hope Les kicks his ass then drops a grass turd right at his feet.
No, AT&T Stadium has a state of the art turf field, however LSU's 2014 season opener is against Wisconsin in Houston's Reliant Stadium and it does have a natural grass field and get this, it's portable. It's made up of 8x8 squares of natural grass which can be forklifted outside to get some sun. I believe the grass is used only for NFL events and is replaced be a turf field for non NFL events. More information than you wanted to know probably, but pretty interesting. I bet they would let LSU/Wisconsin play on grass if they asked.
I'll reserve the right to final judgement once I see what the final punishment is, if indeed there is anything more. But I still hold that a team vote is absolutely no way to determine if a player is reinstated. That's a part of CLM's job, not the players. Was there a team vote we weren't told about regarding RP? T-Bob? TM7? JJ? How many of them would have been voted back onto the team? Very likely, every single one. In what situations is it the team's responsibility to make those decision and when is it the responsibility of the coach? Ultimately of course it's CLMs decision and none of our opinions matter but that's no reason not to express them. And just becasue he's our coach and has done a decent job with team discipline before, doesn't mean that all of them will be good or that everyone has to blindly agree with them. In this instance, regardless of past performance, I think he's wrong for not issuing a suspension and for being quick and decisive about it. He's had months to know all the facts straight from the source, and once the legal system did their thing a final team disciplinary decision should have been already waiting to be announced. Don't make the fans, team, team, and most importantly JH wait needlessly. Make a decision and do it and get it over with so everyone can move forward. Why the wait? Gamesmanship for the TCU game?
I hear there may a potential opening at a top tier DI school in Austin pending the outcome of this season. And yes if CLM got hit by a bus tomorrow, he'd be on my short list of attainable coaches to replace him. He's not a bad coach or a bad guy. Just running his mouth when he probably shouldn't have. But I hope old Leslie smacks him and the horny toads around real good in 3 weeks.
