I have never started a thread before, so here goes. One issue that irked me last year was Gary Danielson doing the national broadcast for CBS' coverage of LSU games. I just could not stand this guy. I think there was a thread about this before, but with the season about to start and the SEC signing a long-term deal with CBS, it's an issue again. I do not look forward to this Purdue alum, Big 10 biased, clown announcing LSU games, or any SEC game for that matter. I live in North Carolina, and as such, am dependent on national broadcast for LSU games. As far as I am concerned, he should team up with Mike Gottfried and go do some Big 10 games. He was horrible last year, esp. the Auburn game. Does anyone know who to contact and bombard with requests to get this guy changed out? Probably won't have much effect, I know, but hey, it does not hurt to try.
I actually think Danielson is one of the better ones out there as far as commentators go. the guy knows his stuff about football and doesn't have much bias against one team or the other, especially when it's a conference game because, I mean both sides of the ball are the "bad guys" so the bad mouthing would go both ways.
Gary lobbied passionately for Florida to play in the BCS Championship Game ahead of Michigan during the 2006 SEC Championship Game he was announcing. Last season's LSU-Auburn game was broadcast on ESPN.
Danielson is a football genius. The dude is just excited about announcing football so I can respect that. I remember in the Bama game, I think, he was predicting LSU's playcalling and was right most of the time. He does get irritating at times, but he's not as bad as Verne and his random pauses during big LSU plays and constant mispronounciations of LSU players.
I also like Danielson. He is pretty objective, IMO. If you want to see some baaad announcers, pull out your tapes of the past LSU vs Arkansas games. They usually get a couple of guys that I have never heard of before. The good announcers are home with the family for Thanksgiving.
Almost every announcer knows football. GD will make a point about someone looking tired with 14:42 left in the 1st. He will then flash back to that point he made earlier every minute if something is even remotely related to that point. He just builds himself up and draws unnecessary attention towards himself...instead of the game. He is very good on the radio, though. Can we have Ron Franklin back?
