It won't be long before LSU fans start clamoring for Pelini. The past is a wonderful thing. Is Dietzel still alive?
give a non LSU fan this scenario: you have an SEC team they will go 112th in offense and dead last in the SEC. they will be 27th in total defense. (i mean in most years this sounds like vandy) what is their regular season win total if they are a western team and have UF and UGA from the east and a road trip to bama on their schedule? what would most set that over/under at? 7 maybe? LSU won 9. not up to championship standards like most want but respectable in a year with a new DC. coincidentally the team that was 112th in offense outscored their opposition by 112 pts. i really think not firing crowton was the wrong move, (and may honestly be the end of miles at LSU) but i don't know if the team massively underperformed (overall) last year like everyone seems to thnk.
Precisely my point. I wasn't saying they underperformed, but just the opposite. As ugly as it was at times, this team found ways to pull it out. If they even begin to click as a fully functional offense, it's going to scare some DC's out there. This team is full of players that know how to win. By the way, most of that 112 points we outscored opponents by was from Tulane, ULL, Vandy, and the likes of... Just sayin. Look at Just the SEC opponents + Washington... Even with beating Auburn by 21 it's much closer. More like 36 (I'm counting games we lost as well)..
Na, I like Chavis just fine. Besides, like you never sat there thinking "I was GW was back in office.".. don't lie, you know you have.. But this is the wrong forum, so I'll leave that alone here.
All of this will be settled soon enough. Crowton is not going anywhere this year, so I will sit back and hope for the best. If we don't see significant improvement, changes WILL be made. Everyone that called for his head will say I told you so and be happy. I am not a big fan myself, but I am hoping with the addition of Gonzales, better O line play and a more experienced QB, we will improve. By the way, those who loved Jimbo (as I did), dont forget how tight he got in close games. With all of the talent we had every game with Auburn seemed to be 7-3, 10-7, etc. No one is perfect, and Crowton MAY need to go, but we may as well wait till we play a few games first. Just my opinion.
I'm becoming a fan of his too. With our offense suffering as it did, the defense looked like the best thing we had at times. I think it was a great first year with a new coordinator, but I am hoping for some extras now that a foundation has been set. Personally, I want more 3-4:helmet:
Just to clarify, I wasn't a big Jimbo fan either, just because of that. He used to drive me crazy with the play calling at times as well. My previous statement was just to make a point that Crowton was no big improvement, and at times, seemed to be a downgrade. Who IS the right guy? Hell I don't know.. That decision is to be made by someone who knows a little more about football than I do. Who knows, maybe Crowton will make me eat my words this year. If he does, I'll gladly accept being wrong about him.
JJ was the number 2 rated QB last year in the red zone - it was getting to the red zone was the problem. It tells me the shorter the field, the easier it is to read the D.
Mini-hijack: Bush had to go, With a Democratic Congress he was not that good a President. I just don't think he's the cause of all of today's economic problem. That would be Barack. I was semi kidding about the past coaches. I know most love Chavis and it's hard to argue for Crowton with a 112th place offense.
