So let's just ignore that it was probably LSU's most prolific offense in its storied history, setting records in points scored and yards gained...with numerous future NFL'ers.
Absolutely! We barely cracked open the playbook last week. I've also cruised around to some other teams' forums tonight. We have the rest of the SEC pretty scared right about now. AU fans were predicting that we'll beat them by 50, and MSU fans were feeling better about the beating they took last week. "Well, if VT was stomped worse than us, then..."
I thought I was the only one who wasn't a big fan of Jimbo Fisher. I thought he was good but also believed he received way too much credit for our success. With all the talent and speed we had during his tenure, I was surprised how conservative he often was. During Saban's tenure, I assumed NS limited the offense as he figured the defense would win games. After Saban left, I expected Fisher to open up the offense. It never happened and I believe it cost us the Auburn game last year. Had we won that game, we would have played for the SEC Championship and maybe the National Title. I'm quite pleased with our current coaching staff. :geauxtige
Even if VT was overrated, they still have a great defense. We will not play a defense taht good unless we play in the NC game, and even then we might play WVU, Louisville, or Texas.
Auburn has a good defense, and they are not going to be intimidated like VT...Bama is not "as good" but they will play better than VT.
I was wary of the praise piled on Fisher, too. And I'm quite pleased with the current coaching staff as well. If they can keep this team focused, watch out. :geauxtige I believe that statement is questionable.
I don't like hating on Fisher as he helped us to 2 SEC titles and one NC. But what I saw on offense last night was something I've been wanting for years with all this talent ... a creative, unpredictable offense. Welcome to LSU, Coach Crowton.
Great post, I agree. Fisher was good, good enough to win SEC championships and a MNC, with our defenses paving the way. Crowton was clearly superior last night, IMO. I agree with the comments in the thread that Miles has done a great job when he has had to go out and hire new assistants, he has upgraded the staff. It is a tribute to him as a head coach, that is what his job is. Miles, Pelini, Crowton is a formidable group. :geauxtige
I mostly agree with this, except that VT was not totally a quality team, their offense is truly pathetic. They only had 3-and-outs most of the game, except when the frosh QB scrambled, and that gave us way to many shots at their goal on offense. They have a quality defense, and we moved the ball well against a solid unit, which is the best part of the game for us.
