Yes, I read that this morning. I'm just saying, as much improved as he has looked just throwing that stat out there makes him sound like a super star QB. I'm not saying he's not, just that the jury is still very much out.
Damn Helmet Bounce Pass and that BS Run/Pass option pass with a linemen 5 yards down field inflated his stats last week.
Has anyone heard if Miles or Saban has contacted Shaw or the officials about this bullshit illegal man downfield pass play that teams keep getting away with? I thought over the offseason they were going to make that a point of emphasis.
The league office in Birmingham knows all about it for sure. Even now they are looking into ways to get that call overlooked when LSU plays Bama.
To me it comes down to a couple of things (with Harris): 1) Is he turning the ball over? - No. 2) Is he making good decisions in the game? - Yes. 3) Is he getting the ball to people that can make plays? - Yes. I don't care if he passes for 100 or 500 yards in a game. If those three questions are answered as above then we are fine. As far as play-calling goes, it's not the most exciting thing to watch (actually it's not bad when our offense fits the game plan) but it gets the job done. If another team can't stop LSU's run game then you damn well better believe Miles will keep pounding them with it because A) it generally doesn't cause turnovers as much, and B) it keeps the ball away from the other team; humiliates them. There isn't much need to keep firing downfield all the time when our RB's are shredding the field like they have been. I suspect Harris will get his practice against Syracuse and E. Michigan Beauty School and Bait Shop. He's going to be settling in nicely right about the time we face South Carolina and Florida.
If the refs cant catch it on the field, it needs to be reviewable. When the D sees run blocking and linemen down field, it tells them they are ok to leave their guy and come make a tackle. Its complete bullshit takes away from the integrity of the game. I have never bought into uptempo being gimmicky but this bullshit play is gimmicky and is bad for the sport. Period. And I am 100% aware that even LSU runs it from time to time. Saw it in the Auburn game.
I agree on all accounts but would prefer you add 1 more line: 4) Can he win the game with his arm if needed ? - Unknown If we get behind because of turnovers on special teams or our defense is getting torched and our running game is getting stuffed, can Harris make plays with his arm when we need him to? Until we need him to, I am 100% content with our style. But when that day comes, where will Harris be? I agree, lets use the next 2 to 5 games to help him mature and get ready for that situation.
