    Hi Everybody -

I am headed to the game this upcoming weekend with a group of guys from California. We pick a game every year (This year is the SEC) and are really excited about seeing the #1 team in the country and checking out Death Valley for the first time.

We are staying in New Orleans Thursday night but have not decided whether we should stay in Baton Rouge on Friday or stay an extra night in New Orleans. We have rooms reserved in both places so we can cancel one or the other. Is the traffic horrible or could we drive down on game day without much of a problem.

    Thanks.

If I were you, I would stay in Baton Rouge on Friday night. With a 2:30 start time, you'll want to be on campus at LSU no later than 8 or 9 a.m.

Staying in New Orleans two nights doubles your chances for getting shot. I wouldn't push it -get whatchu can on the Thursday then head to BR.

Tell that to the SIXTY people slain as of APRIL of this year. That's not counting others wounded or missed.

NOLA is a city with such a huge problem that there's a program implemented because the problem is so out of hand?

didn't read the article, but these guys are tourists. they'll be on or around bourbon st. how many people get shot there? I've been to bourbon many, many, many times and never found trouble. If you look for trouble, you can easily find it, if you look for fun, you can find that too. But, i'd agree to get out of there fri morning and head to baton rouge. go to hooters on siegen lane. always good views there.
oh, beer is alot cheaper here too. :)
i was in san diego last month and my bill was always over $50.

If you're just passing through Louisiana, maximize your time in NOLA. It's the most fun city in America - unless you hate food, booze and music. And yes, it has a high crime rate. So do NY, LA, DC, Miami and lots of other interesting cities. Stay around the French Quarter after dark and you'll be fine.

Gameday at LSU is amazing. Outside of that, Baton Rouge is kinda boring.

Welcome to Louisiana! You are going to have a blast. I live in New Orleans and was raised in Baton Rouge and Monroe so, I think I know a little about NO and BR. Here is what you risk if you stay in New Orleans: You might have so much fun that you forget to go to bed-bars don't close here and music never stops. This could make your Saturday on the LSU campus a bit, well, painful. Baton Rouge bars close at 2am, so you can have a big time but still get some rest 'cause Game Days are huge! Have a great time-don't worry about getting shot-and let us know what we can do to make your trip a happy one. Geaux Tigers!
