The season is finally here. You gotta love this feeling. Unlike most years, Saints fans, including myself say this is the year. 10 weeks deep into the season the saying goes, wait till next year. Next year maybe THIS YEAR! Personally I am pleased to see that Stafford is starting this weekend. The chances of him escaping the dome with a win is as close as my chances of being able to walk into a Ruth's Chris and ordering a bone in ribeye after my fate this past weekend of college football betting. Anyways, Lets get this thread going let me know what yall think! Geaux Saints, Who Dat Nation!Saintslogo

    Re: Game 1. Lions v.s Saints Pre-game

Saints open up as a 13 point favorite. That is a HUGE point spread in the NFL. Looks like more than just Saints die-hards recognize this offense as a "video game offense".

I'm juiced, pumped, and ready to rock. I won't be at the Dome on Sunday (unless I come across some tix) but I'll be watching the swamp dogs on tv FO SHO.

    Let's get some predictions.

    I'll go first:

    Saints-32
    Detroit-17

Well, might as well turn it loose here. Saints all-time record for points scored in a game is 51, vs the Cardinals in '69, the Seahawks in '76 and the Packers last year.

    Saints 56
    Lions 3

I hope this is like a preseason game. Score early and often then pull the starters in the second half.

The difference between the best and worst teams in the league usually isn't very much but the Lions, Bills, and Raiders are REALLY bad. Maybe one of them will have a miracle season but it's not looking promising.

So you feel the Saints offense will only score 24 points? They got 21 in 16 minutes against the Raiders. I've got a feeling Brees is chomping at the bit this season; he intends to perform surgery on every defense he sees.

The focus here is the defense as far as what I am looking to guage the success of this season.

We have to put the clamps on this mediocre offense with a new QB. I am assuming Stafford is starting, is that right?

    New Orleans 34, Detroit 13

Anything significantly more than 13 and I won't be pleased.

Stafford is starting, and he's got a big-time target in Johnson. But he has no offensive line to speak of, and he will be a first-time starter in a hostile environment, going against a blitz-happy defensive coordinator. I agree, 13 points at most.
