Agreed. I thought they threw it on 1st down way too much, considering how off he had been. Seemed like we were abandoning the run and option in the first half. And they didn't seem to give JJ any of those short, confidence-booster throws, either.
Anyone who says they werent worried needs to be examined. I couldnt take it after the first quarter. Took my young boys and german sheperd to the mountains. Hiked through some snow, enjoyed the silence and views. No cell phone reception, couldnt peek at the game. Regained some perspective and had a quality day. Came home prepared to accept whatever happened. Damned glad I did this, because the second quarter would have put me in a nastyass mood. That was as bad a half of offense as I've ever seen in my life. A whole first half without a first down? Seriously? I'm going to read through the gameday thread in a bit and expect to be highly amused at the first half commentary.
If you say you weren't worried, then you're lying (with the exception of a very few of you). Just read the comments in the game thread. I was worried because of the anemic play of JJ. Good thing we didn't need to throw the ball to win.
The game went pretty much like I expected. Ok, not exactly like I expected, but kind of. My brother called me at about the second quarter and told me he needed some reassurance. I told him not to worry; that LSU would answer the call in the second half. They indeed did. All that said, I knew GA would come out with everything they had. I didn't know that they would look as good as they did in the first half, however.
I was worried until the punt return. Our defense was doing okay, and well JJ pissed me off all night. I wanted Lee or ZMett in from the 5th series on. When TM7 pulled that return though, I knew that would fire us up, and I knew there would be no denying that Georgia was who we thought they were.
It was a hell of a game but you know once we start giting a taste of the enzone we cant stop giting in their .... knaw its the time for the BCS
I got bad mojo so I tape. Don't watch live. Did sneak a peak at the game thread, on the mobile and about crapped when it was 0-10. Then saw when it was (first half), and really did not worry cause we got too much juice for GA to stick with us in 2nd 1/2. Of course, I did not check back until game was well over. Why risk it?
Nope. They've finished every single game in dominant fashion, usually sparked by a play on defense or special teams, and I expected it to be the case last night. They'd gone on the road and beaten 2 BCS-bound conference champions (and Bama, I guess) this season, so there was no fear of the outcome. Zero first downs in the first half was horrible, and worthy of criticism, but that hardly makes one a negatiger.
I know I'm beating a long dead horse, but with the field position and Georgia's early line play, Lee would have been a disaster. JJ didn't give any points away.
