what is better for college football - big market USC in the top 5-7 teams after a loss and an easy PAC 10 schedule left assuring no more losses (more then likely), or a mid market Mizzou team on a bye week? like it or not, the media polls are about popularity, and in the end ratings, and California is a huge market for ratings. i hate it as much as everyone else, but I am a realist
I hope Pete Carroll crawled into a fetal position in a locker and cried like a 3 year old after that.
Believe it or not, a lot of people in So.Cal. don't give the first crap about USC or Pac-10 football. Big market, that's true. Loads of transplants who either don't care at all or have their allegiances elsewhere. I am not trying to dismiss your statement, I have just never really seen the avidity out here as a whole that is allegedly perceived through the lens of the national media.
Well this year I fell into that trap thinking they were probably one of the best teams in the country. This goes to show you can't win on talent alone.
Yeah, for the first time I thought they were legit a #1 too. Most any SEC team would have POUNDED them!
I agree that USC is a top 5 team, but they are also a top 5 team that just lost to a 24-point underdog Oregon State team.
I take it you also believe that USC controls the media, and that the AP Poll is 70% made up of voters from Southern California???
