He said he drove the 17th all week long and never hit it as far as it went on Sunday when he landed in the deep rough to the left of the green. He expected to be in the much lighter stuff just shy of the green. One of the shortest drivers on the tour, Furyk's unlikely power source likely cost him the US Open championship.

I was surprised to hear him say that. He's been in plenty of pressure situations to understand adrenaline will make you hit the ball much farther.

Yeah I thought it must have been adrenaline myself, so I figured you play it safe and take out a 3 wood or long iron. Oh well.

Remember he agonizingly debated over a seemingly harmless 4 ft putt last year on either 17 or 18 only to miss it because he overanalyzed it. It possibly cost him that championship as well. We could be talking about Jim Furyk being a 3 time US Open champion this morning had it not been for these 2 blunders.

Yeah, I felt bad for Jim. After an AWESOME late round charge yesterday, he finished T-2nd after a blunder at 17. I thought it was the right move to go for it. He had the momentum and Tiger and Cabrera were struggling. It was a good finish to the Open. I just wish a big name (Furyk) would be in the final group with Tiger. It always a nobody that says he's up for the challenge and then shoots an 80 a la BADdeley.

Uhhhhhhhhh The man just pocketed 617,000 . There are many more people to feel sorry for than Jim Furyk. How about children with Cancer.

I dont feel bad for him at all. But thats just me. :hihi:

This make the 4th straight year someone from the southern hemisphere won the U.S. Open.

Uhhhhhhhhh how can you compare cancer to golf? This isn't a "children with cancer" thread. Obviously cancer is more important than finishing second at the U.S. Open.

I think he was saying, in essence, what you're saying. :thumb:

I walked into Wickets (clothing store) in Ponte Vedra Beach yesterday to pick up a sportscoat... Furyk was in there shopping. I asked him how many Fridays a year does he get to spend shopping.... he said "I think this is it!"

(I bet his credit card has a higher limit than mine)

Tough break on that shot... I always pull for the local guys.

I'm surprised you saw him in a clothing store. You would think the clothing company he has an endorsement contract with would give him everything.
