    #5 Michigan (8-4) Preseason
    #8 Louisville (6-6) Week 1
    #11 UCLA (6-6) Week 2
    #14 Nebraska (5-7) Week 2
    #10 Rutgers (7-5) Week 4
    #8 Kentucky (7-5) Week 5
    #2 Cal (6-6) Week 6
    #8 South Carolina (6-6) Week 7
    #2 Oregon (8-4) Week 11

None of these are ranked in the final Coaches Poll. If there are any other interesting ones, add them.

So many teams hit a high point then just plummeted. Odd to think that Cal was a contender for the NCG in October.

On the flip side, neither Kansas or Illinois received a single preseason vote.

Interesting post. It is funny how Spurier gets a pass from coaching criticism after dropping 5 straight to end the season. He just throws his players under the bus and picks up his golf clubs. I'll never forget the look on his face when Miles outcoached him with the most beautiful fake field goal in LSU history. What a play, (Flynn's toss over the shoulder).

Missouri was not ranked to start the season

Listing Oregon isn't really fair, their QB got hurt.

The "look on his face" was laughter. I believe he had that play in his playbook last year, but did not include it this year. That's what he was laughing about.
