If the Buckeyes make it to the NCG again this year, I would be truly shocked if they lost again. This year their talent will be a bit more experienced and getting to the NCG will require them to beat USC. I think it is their year.

So that means they would have to beat USC twice next season in your scenario.

    Tough task.

If they lose during the regular season to USC they better hope they have fewer losses than every other team because I doubt the voters will give them the benefit of the doubt the 3rd time around.

I have to disagree. I'm just not that impressed with OSU.

Sorry just read your post again, I thought you were predicting they would meet up with USC in the NC.

I understand based upon their performance the last two years, but I attribute that more to a lack of competition in their own conference. If they can beat USC than they should have the mental toughness to win a big game. I suppose time will tell but imagine if they face Oklahoma. Stoops has not exactly shown up lately either.

You're right, of course, if they meet, say, Chokelahoma, they may very well win that game. I do think they will have a hard time getting to the big game after two straight decisive loses if there is a log jam at the top of the polls to end the season.

I will also be very surprised if they beat USC.

You obviously don't know any buckeye fans...I'm hoping for an SEC team in the Championship game, as are most buckeye fans. IMO, we have some work to do to get there in the first place, but we don't shy away from any challenge, win lose or draw, we want the best and to measure ourselves against it.

Not sure why you're such a hater, but we'll talk more about that in January.

As for some of the comments, Dude, you're right on point here i think, as the experience should help our guys to perform well at the very least, which will put us in a position to win. i love how people think that college football players aren't capable of choking in big games. Like the Ark game last year, when you knew that DMac was getting the ball and still couldn't stop it. Does that mean that LSU wasn't good enough to win the NC? obviously not. Apparently people need reminded that these are 18-23 year old kids, not that that's a precondition (just ask Tom Brady) for choking, but it happens, and one of two things result from that.

    1. you let it get in your head and continue to choke

    2. you learn from it and are able to rise to the challenge and play to your ability.

Now, it's obviously debatable which of these categories the buckeyes have and/or will fall into, and IMO, this year falls directly onto the shoulders of the coaching staff.

Tress has done a fantastic job with this program, and has elevated it well beyond what Coop could have ever done. That said, the talent is here this year and if we don't get the job done, it will be because of poor playcalling on both sides of the ball that has plagued us the last two postseasons. Like it or not, the buckeyes will be in the picture this year and for years to come. Like LSU, we are here to stay, and i'm hoping for a rematch sometime in the near future, as it was a real treat to play against the class of the SEC (referring to the class of the fans, coaches, players etc., not just talent, although that's a given). I will wish the Tigers good luck again, and continue to root for them as long as they're not playing the B10 ;)

    IS IT FOOTBALL SEASON YET?
