Not to ,his cousins Mickey Gilley and even Jimmy Swaggart who sells tons of Christian Music. And Tim McGraw from Monroe. Buddy Guy was born in Pointe Coupee Parish. Tabby Thomas, Larry Garner, the Neal family. And the Neville Brothers. Percy Sledge. Former governor Jimmie Davis wrote, sang and had a hit with You Are My Sunshine. Lucinda Williams. Slim Harpo. The Meters. The Marsalis family of jazz musicians. But I guess taint is right. No big time band in the Southern Rock genre like Lynyrd Skynyrd. And Clifton Chenier.
I'm probably the only one old enough to have seen GG Shin & the Boogie Kings perform. They were a group unlike any other.
I know, right? They have a couple of old songs that I like and they were decent when I saw them at HoB back in the day, but was recently staying at a casino in Biloxi and had comp tickets to their show and they SUCKED. Maybe played 2 original songs, then the rest were covers. Even the songs they chose to cover sucked. And the drummer would interrupt the songs trying to get the crowd into it, but no one was buying in.
