When Duplantis stepped up to the plate with 2 on I fully expected him to at least drive in the tying runs. A double would have been nice with Cabrera up next. These guys just don't have that refuse to lose fire that the legendary Tigers of the past had.
If anybody is wondering about my new avatar it is the logo of the Baton Rouge Rougarou. Last night a couple of hours after the game I made a run to the store. The radio was tuned to ESPN104.5 and there was the play by play of a Rougarou's game. They play in the Texas College league and the players are college players. From where I don't know but they play their home games at Pete Goldsby Field. Apparently the team owner is spending a lot of his own money to upgrade the facilities of stadium which has to be at least 60 or 70 years old. Might be worth checking on a game this summer. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to get great seats. The owner has signed a 5 year lease but these things never last too long in Baton Rouge. http://brrougarou.com/
At my age I can't trust my memory, but, as I recall it seemed like during his final season at LSU Ben McDonald pitched every other day during the post season and I believe we won the the CWS. Now a days if a guy goes 7 innings it's a miracle.
It was either in 1986 or 87 that LSU came out of the losers bracket in the College Station regional. To go to the CWS they had to beat thr 58-4 aTm Aggies twice in one day. McDonald pitched a complete game in the first one and pitch a few innings in relief in the second and got both wins.
If they last until next year. Getting enough paid attendance to stay afloat will be tough. In addition to all the other problems any Baton Rouge minor league franchise faces Pete Goalsby Field is in a less desirable part of town.
