Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the Tigers won't be able to pull through, but a few things I wish were different......... Both Florida and Alabama have a bye week the week before we play them. I have read about how the SEC is supposed to rotate, but I don't understand why we so often end up playing both Georgia and Florida, while teams like Bama get Kentucky and Tennessee and Ole Miss gets Vandy and Tennessee. We need to have a good season. This is crucial.
Actually the only team from the East that we play annually is Florida. The remaining five teams are on a rotational basis. I wish it was a true rotation but the SEC wanted to maintain several rivalries and we just ended up with what was left...Florida. The bad news is they're tougher than Vandy or Kentucky. The good news is when you beat them it carries more weight than Vandy or Kentucky.
I think it's agreat natural rivalry. Florida is where most of us visit often for fun and sun. Culturally, Louisana has more in common with Florida's Gulf coast. After all, I live in the Florida Parishes. But most of all, competing annually with good teams like Florida really keeps us on our toes and makes us better. I know I'll feel a lot better if we hang 50 on Tebow and Cryer !!
I'm with you i would much rather play Florida every year. To me this is LSU's rival. LSU's talent is equal or either greater to that of the Tebow gators. It didnt show last year because of miles lack of team preparation, motivation and the poor qb coaching. Even though the tigers showed signs of dominance in that game, miles continued to use the "play not to lose" umbrella defense which made our defense look confused and slow. Florida is the national champs, i think miles will get some peeps of his back this season with another crystal ball heading back to baton rouge in 09
It use to bother me but I remember not to long ago I would look at the schedule and think oh maybe we can hang in there or get a possible upset of those guys, but that was back when we struggled so bad we had to go get a coach from Vanderbilt. Now I just look at it as Florida and Georgia have to play us and I don't care how much crap is said on their boards, you know they don't like knowing that we stand in the way of them having a chance to play for the championship. I don't care who they put in front of us now, they can rank us 13th and put the top 12 on our schedule and I expect to beat them. The days of oh well guys atleast they gave a good effort are over. I will give Florida there respect, they have earned it but damn we take a backseat to no one in this conference or any other. We want titles, we want national recognition, we want the top recruits then you should want a hard schedule. I know the guys this year will get up and play great against FL,GA,AL, and OM but what I want to see is us quit playing down to the less talented competition on our schedule and enforce our will upon them like some of the other consistant title chasers do.
This is the key factor. We risk more by playing more contenders, but it pays off in BCS rankings when we win.
I would like to see a flung ball in the air, a FL player tip it at the 50 to Russell Shepard and he just out run everyone to the endzone. I don't know seems like a good way to start a game wait oh yeah. Damn!! I hate Percy!!!
Hey, I agree with all of you in that I enjoy the rivalry with Florida, and even Georgia, for that matter. I know that it makes us look better when we win. However, my discouragement comes from the fact that the SEC is a difficult conference........THE most difficult conference. This has a lot to do with the fact that in 2004 and 2007, as National Champions, we had 1 and 2 losses, respectively. Losses are almost expected in the SEC, but a team with zero or only one loss has a good chance to hit the NC game. So, its frustrating to think that we could potentially lose a game or two to Florida/Georgia, while Bama breezes through their significantly easier schedule. I love that we are counted among the elite of college football. We are LOADED with talent and I definitely think that last year was a fluke and there is no reason that we shouldn't bounce back to at least a 10 win season this year. However, we do have the most hardcore conference schedule on the SEC, having to play Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Ole Miss. PS----Seaward.......I'm absolutely mesmerized. I had to look twice, though. She looks very much like an ex of mine that moved down to BR from Alexandria. You can't go wrong with 36DD-24-34.
You've had very few posts on this board, but you make veiled and unveiled criticisms of Coach Miles in most of them. Why has he not won you over?
